To train and qualify as an Applied Chiller Engineer through participation in an apprenticeship scheme whilst gaining hands-on experience working alongside experienced colleagues covering all aspects of Chiller & Air-Conditioning maintenance and repair.
This role sits within Living Environmental Systems (LES) a business division within Mitsubishi Electric-UK. The role supports the maintenance and repair of chillers, which are essential for keeping buildings cool. You will work with a very broad range of customers including large corporate commercial sites, production facilities, data centres and small offices.
Responsibilities include:
Gaining practical knowledge and experience through working alongside our qualified engineers
Conducting planned maintenance to prevent equipment failures and ensure chiller systems run efficiently
Responding to breakdown calls
Carrying out minor repairs and equipment upgrades
Actively supporting initiatives to reduce the number of customer call back service requests through improvements in equipment reliability
Supporting improvement and efficiency initiatives for the service department and wider organisation
Completing all site visit reports in a timely manner
Complying with health and safety procedures

A field-based role, with a service centre office base of: Birmingham
You will be required to travel around the surrounding area to customer sites during the apprenticeship; and to West Nottingham College in Mansfield for classroom and workshop training every 6 weeks

Youll work closely with internal engineering teams and external suppliers to deliver high-performance, mission-critical hardware under demanding timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and review system requirements and verification strategies at spacecraft, subsystem, and unit levels
- Lead technical engagement with robotics suppliers, including co-engineering and system compatibility assessments
- Support the design and development of innovative robotic hardware and associated ground support equipment
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, thermal, electrical, software) to solve complex engineering challenges
- Work closely with Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture and integration
- Contribute to hardware development throughout design, build, test, and launch phases
- Produce and maintain technical documentation (specifications, ICDs, procedures, reports, design descriptions)
- Support project lifecycle reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR)
- Assist with supplier engagement and procurement activities
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the team
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Robotics, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years experience in robotics systems engineering
- Proven experience delivering complex, safety-critical mechanism design across the full lifecycle
- Strong background in robotics design, analysis, procurement, and testing
- In-depth understanding of robotics systems, including design trade-offs and performance considerations
- Knowledge of spacecraft or complex system development lifecycles (e.g. MDR, PDR, CDR)
- Strong systems engineering capability, including requirements management and verification
- Experience developing innovative hardware solutions under challenging timelines
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of robotic manipulators for on-orbit or remote operations
- Experience with magnetic systems or capture mechanisms
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, NX, CREO) and PDM systems
- Familiarity with multi-body dynamics modelling (e.g. HyperWorks)
- Experience in kinematic modelling and robotics simulation
- Programming or automation experience (e.g. Python, VBA)
- Understanding of in-orbit servicing, debris removal, or related space mission concepts

Taking full responsibility for the Accounts Payable process, processing large volumes of invoices into the system (using tech-based scanning), validating accuracy and confirming onto the system
Reconciling supplier statements and preparing files for monthly payment runs
Using EPOS till data to reviewing daily sale transactions/takings, investigating discrepancies, and chasing outstanding payments from customers
Raising sales invoices and issuing statements to customers
Making bank deposits and supporting daily banking activities
Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly
Supporting month-end finance administration and reporting duties
Liaising with suppliers and internal departments regarding account queries
Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounts and administrative duties
Ensuring confidentiality and accuracy across all financial processes at all times
THE PERSON:
Current experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant, or similar role
Experience within hospitality, retail, or a fast-paced customer-focused environment would be advantageous, but is not essential
Confident processing invoices, reconciliations, payments, and general finance administration
Experience using Xero or similar accounting software would be beneficial
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and analytical skills
Good IT skills including MS Excel and finance systems
A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Able to work effectively under pressure within a busy environment
