Service technicians are trained in all areas of vehicle mechanics and electronics, from engine and exhaust systems to air conditioning and security features.
The role will vary by the employer based upon the specific needs of the location, but the position typically involves:
Developing an understanding of workshop equipment
Advising the service receptionists about required repairs
Producing time estimates
Maintaining repair and service records
Training:
The programme lasts for at least 36 months (3 years) and you'll achieve a nationally recognised qualification
You will be employed by Porsche Retail Group Ltd, and attend weeklong block training at the Calex UK Training Academy in Slough.
Block training is complemented by a combination of regular coaching visits from one of our experienced coaches, as well as Virtual Classroom sessions and E-Learning modules
Your development is supported through your apprenticeship journey, with your learning focused towards achieving a qualification recognised across the motor industry
This will provide the foundation to develop your career, as there are lots of opportunities within our expanding dealer network to progress and move into new roles once you’ve successfully completed the programme
Qualification: Level 3 Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle)
Before the Standard is met, all apprentices must hold a certificate that meets the EU’s 2014 F-gas regulation

Provision of an IT helpdesk support service to schools.
Provide hardware support services to meet school requirements including installing, upgrading, maintaining and supporting IT hardware.
Support school and central team staff and pupils with the use of IT equipment and software.
Undertake IT equipment repairs.
Install computer software as required.
Provide support for in-school events requiring IT equipment/support, including assemblies, visiting speakers, parents' evenings, etc.
Complete any ad hoc project work, as required.

Assist the Support Officer in the provision of high-quality customer technical support at the front line.
To assist the Systems Officer in the installation, configuration and maintenance of network and server systems.

Remove and refit non-structural body panels and mechanical and electrical systems
Remove and refit any part relating to the vehicle to the correct alignment
Remove, repair, and replace engine, gearbox, suspension, mechanical and electrical systems
Diagnose and fix faults within a vehicle management system (onboard computer) & associated electrical system

Level 3 Vehicle damage, mechanical, electrical and trim (MET) technician apprenticeship standard
Apprentices will be required to achieve Certification in Refrigerant Handling (EC 842-2006)
Not only will apprentices be working and trained within the garage, but they will also attend an approved college on block release to work towards and achieve their Certificate at Level 3 in Vehicle Damage, Mechanical, Electrical and Trim (MET)

Effective deployment of Fleet asset resources in order to deliver the correct train plan at all times
Ensuring all Fleet asset resources are maintained and examined in accordance with the specified frequencies as required in the respective maintenance plans
Create and distribute maintenance plans showing effective management to balance depot workloads
Liaise with Depot Management and Service Delivery Team regarding the required alteration to a plan or the movement of units
Support the Service Delivery Team as required in formulating stock change plans for review with NR under VSTP conditions
Monitor all services operated by SWR fleets and ensure that any deviation to the plan is highlighted and support the restoration of normal working
Ensure that routine maintenance requirements on SWR fleets are plan led with rolling stock being moved back to depots to fill pre-agreed slots which allows a beat rate to be achieved. This gives more flexibility to the operational railway with less focus on planning to zero miles
Review Altered Carriage Working Notices (ACWN), special workings and engineering notices to ensure that we are able to deploy the fleet appropriately based on the current train plan
Ensure depots and outstations are kept informed with regard to arrivals and departures, including any special requirements to support the delivery of the maintenance plan or the train service
