The role
As a Trainee Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in supporting survey and positioning activities across our service lines, including:
Positioning & Construction Support (PCS)
Inspection, Repair & Maintenance (IRM)
You will learn how to set up, test, calibrate and operate a wide range of survey and positioning systems. This hands‑on offshore role gives you exposure to engineering, data processing, ROV operations and marine disciplines, helping you gain a broad understanding of how Fugro delivers technical excellence.
On joining, you will complete our 4‑week intensive training programme, combining classroom learning and practical sessions to prepare you for offshore deployment and give you the foundational skills to progress in your career.

Who we’re looking for
You’re motivated to work offshore and enjoy working as part of a small, close‑knit team.
You have strong attention to detail and enjoy identifying and solving problems.
You’re prepared to spend approximately 180 days offshore per year.
You have strong computer skills and a solid understanding of survey principles.
You have a degree in a relevant subject such as Geomatics, Geospatial, or Surveying Sciences, Civil Engineering, Marine Science, Ocean Exploration, Physical or Marine Geography. or a related subject.
If you do not have a degree in a relevant area, you have equivalent relevant experience in land or offshore surveying activities.
You bring enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
We are looking forward to having the successful applicants join us in Aberdeen Monday 27th April 2026 to start employment before heading to Plymouth for the 5 week bootcamp, beginning 4th May 2026.
