The below job description will outline this position of: Field Service Engineer Typically, this person will be working predominantly in a workshop environment (approximately 95% of the time) with occasional field service (approximately 5%), supporting the service, repair, installation, and overhaul of heavy-duty gearboxes and associated rotating machinery. The role spans marine vessels, heavy plant, agricultural equipment, and industrial mining machinery. Occasional travel within the UK is required for short-duration projects. Duties and responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer: Service, maintain, repair, install, and overhaul heavy-duty gearboxes and driveline systems Work on equipment used across marine, heavy plant, agriculture, and industrial mining sectors Perform mechanical strip-downs, diagnostics, part changes, and complete rebuilds Carry out alignments, dynamic testing, and inspections in line with OEM specifications Travel across the UK for short-term field service and installation projects (approx. 5% of time) Complete accurate reports, documentation, and quality control checks Maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment Some of the OEM parts and systems you may be working on include: Marine Gearboxes Transmissions Electric Motors Hydraulic Motors Thrusters PTOs (Power Take-Offs) Fluid Couplings Pump Drives Torque Converters Clutches Couplings ...and other gearbox-related components used across a wide range of machinery. Qualifications and requirements for the Field Service Engineer: Time-served mechanical engineer with NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Experience with heavy-duty gearboxes and rotating equipment Industry background in marine, industrial, agricultural, plant, or mining machinery Skilled in mechanical diagnostics, rebuilds, and installations Willingness to travel within the UK occasionally (approx. 5% of time) Strong communication and organisational skills This vacancy is being advertised by HSB Technical Ltd, who have been appointed to act as a recruitment partner for this role.
