You’d be joining a team where engineers, scientists and designers collaborate closely, moving quickly from concept to prototype. The work is varied, hands‑on and genuinely meaningful, with projects focused on countering emerging technological and cyber threats. The role spans the full development cycle, from requirements capture through to design, implementation, verification and delivery. This exciting apprenticeship is for training and knowledge transfer of the engineering expertise within the group, to allow for planned retirements of key technical members of staff. The apprenticeship will cover both a technician role and a design engineering role and so is ideally suited to someone with an interest in both technical engineering but with a practical / hands-on approach to work. Although it will eventually become a true engineer role, the grounding for this industry is based on a practical understanding of the core products.
Wraith Engineering Ltd., the sponsor company, is in Gloucestershire but the apprenticeship will be based at Gerotor Design Studio in Leyland, Lancashire. This is for both a strategic geographical reason (centrally placed between all UK based companies) and because there is daily engineering mentoring available. Monitor works carried out by specialist contractors and external service providers.Assist in the development and implementation of planned maintenance programmes for all building services plant and equipment. Prepare and review Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and COSHH assessments where required.Supervise engineering activities across tenant areas, ensuring all work is completed in line with company procedures and health and safety requirements.Support the inspection, testing, and maintenance of critical building systems, including fire and life safety systems, water treatment, and statutory compliance programmes.Carry out plant condition surveys and prepare reports identifying defects and recommended remedial works. The designated college for training will be Capital City Group at their Tottenham Campus.
The apprentice will be paired with an engineer every day and will be expected to assist in carrying out routine tasks such as plan and install, service, maintain and commission plumbing and domestic heating systems. All technicians will be required to work on typical plumbing elements such as hot and cold water systems and storage, supplies to dwellings and associated pipework, above-ground pipework, connection to below-ground, sanitary pipework, fittings and furniture. Appliances and equipment can include central heating boilers, bathroom furniture, sanitary appliances, drainage and rainwater systems.

Examples of daily tasks include:

A tutor will be assigned to you, and you will receive protected study time within the workplace
You will also get support from our apprenticeship team through mentoring and buddying
