The School Sports Coach Apprentice will work as a lead coach, delivering high-quality physical education and school sport provision primarily within an independent faith school.
Due to the nature of the role, this position involves working independently with pupils and supporting activities where privacy, dignity and safeguarding are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high-quality, inclusive PE lessons in line with the National Curriculum
Leading lunchtime sport and after-school clubs for female pupils
Planning and delivering engaging coaching programmes to support physical, social and emotional development
Supporting and leading extracurricular activities, school games competitions and events
Running and supporting physical activity at break and lunchtime
Supporting whole-class PE teaching where required
Providing cover for PE and sports staff when absent
Preparing, maintaining and safely managing PE equipment and resources
Supporting swimming-based activity programmes where required (training provided)
Maintaining accurate records relating to planning, delivery and evaluation
Supporting pupil behaviour and promoting high standards of engagement
Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external partners
Safeguarding children at all times and adhering to all school policies
This role may involve supporting the organisation's swimming programmes. Candidates with an NPLQ or swimming experience is desirable, however, not essential.
Based between two locations:

This apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to develop professional coaching, leadership and wellbeing skills while making a real difference to communities across Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Key Responsibilities
As an Apprentice Community Sports & Swimming Coach, you will:

A Golf Greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, care and overall appearance of a golf course in line with employer requirements. It is their job to maintain a good quality playing surface and ensure the course offers a consistent challenge and an enjoyable experience for golfers. There are four key turfgrass areas on a golf course - greens, tees, fairways and areas of rough, each of which requires a different type of maintenance. Using a range of equipment and machinery safely and competently, will play a major part within an apprentices training programme. Golf Greenkeepers will also be involved in hazard, environmental and ecological operations, which may include bunker maintenance, planting turf, trees, shrubs and developing wildlife habitats. The skills required to become a competent greenkeeper will be acquired whilst working as an apprentice on the golf course. By the end of the programme, you will know when, how and why the range of maintenance operations are carried out. A Golf Greenkeeper will be able to:
Maintain good standards of health and safety for yourself and others
Preparing the golf course for play, which will include removing early morning dew and debris from the greens, raking bunkers, moving tee markers, cutting new holes on the greens.
Prepare and use equipment and machinery to maintain and renovate all turf surfaces within the golf course, including the use of tractors, ride-on machines, and specialist equipment.
Apply turf treatments to help produce quality playing surfaces, including fertilisers and top dressing.
Use a variety of integrated methods to control weeds, fungal diseases, pests and turf disorders.
Maintain and renovate bunkers and other hazards such as water features.
Maintain drainage and irrigation systems
Prepare ground to establish turf and plants when maintaining, renovating and constructing golf course features.
An Apprentice Golf Greenkeeper will develop and learn to understand the following technical knowledge:
Identify their role in monitoring and maintaining health and safety within the workplace.
Identify a number of grasses, weeds, pests, diseases, turf disorders, plants and trees.
The primary aspects of soil and plant biology include the process of germination – photosynthesis, respiration and transpiration.

You will then return to college approximately every 20 weeks, for a two-week block of intensive training - where you'll be learning all the time. At the end of your intermediate apprenticeship, you'll have more experience and valuable job skills, plus a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification - but that is just the beginning!

Understand the principles of high quality customer service and communication to enable you to gain and keep a valued reputation in industry with clients, collegues and industry representatives such as suppliers and manufacturers
Understand the diffenret types of construction methods, insulation considerations, sustainability, fire, moisture and air protection, damp proof courses and the use of brick ties
Set out and build brick and block work, including cavity walling with returns and openings to required specifications and tolerances
Construct a brick wall with a raking cut
Select appropriate tools, equipment and materials(e.g. trowel, levels, brick ties, DPC, insualtion, mixers , lintels etc) for use when setting out and erecting masonary walling. Maintain a clean working environment
Work in a team to achieve personal and team goals including considering the wider build team
You will also produce a portfolio of evidence demonstrating examples of your work throughout the apprenticeship
Training:Bricklayer Level 2 apprenticeship programme.
Block release training to Stephenson College, Thornborough Road, Coalville, Leicestershire, LE67 3TN.Training Outcome:
On completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice will have satisfied the requirements to obtain a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Card at the appropriate level
Apprentices wil progress to a wide range of employment opportunities in the workplace
Self-employment or starting a business may also be an option
Candiates may also progress on to higher-level qualifications
