Assisting with fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
Using diagnostic software and laptop-based systems to identify faults and record work completed
Shadowing and working alongside a senior engineer to develop practical engineering skills
Completing job sheets, service records and other engineering administration accurately
Supporting inspections and pre-delivery checks to ensure equipment is safe and operational
Learning about electric-powered equipment, batteries and associated diagnostic systems
Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
Following all health and safety procedures, company policies and industry regulations at all times
Developing knowledge of engineering principles, tools, equipment and customer service as part of the apprenticeship programme
This role offers hands-on experience across a wide range of forklift trucks and materials handling equipment while working towards a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification
Training:
Typical delivery will consist of four days per week in the workplace and one day per week attending college
The college day will count towards the apprentice’s required off-the-job training hours
College attendance can take place at either our Bishop Burton or Riseholme campus, depending on the candidate’s location and preference
Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there may be the opportunity to secure a permanent full-time position
Apprentices can also progress onto the Level 3 Land-Based Service Engineering Technician apprenticeship, developing further skills and advancing their engineering career within the company

Join a workshop team where engineers stay for 20-30 years. We’re recruiting for a Senior Workshop Service Technician to join Karcher’s long-standing Banbury workshop team, supportive environment where people genuinely enjoy what they do, know their craft and get stuck in. This is a Monday to Friday role 8:30 - 5pm.
This isn’t a high-pressure, micromanaged environment. It’s a professional, hands-on workshop where everyone pulls together, there’s good banter, people support each other and experienced engineers take pride in doing a great job.
This role would suit an experienced Service Engineer or Workshop Engineer with a strong background in servicing, maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment. You must have experience working on diesel engines, along with strong mechanical fault finding skills. Experience with plant machinery, commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, forklifts or similar heavy equipment is essential.
The Role of Senior Workshop Technician
Diagnose, service, maintain and repair Kärcher industrial cleaning equipment and specialist machinery
Carry out fault finding across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI’s) and machine preparation
Replace components, complete repairs and maintain high workshop standards
Produce accurate repair documentation and cost estimates using service systems
Support field engineers and fellow workshop technicians where required
Ensure tools, equipment and working practices meet safety and quality standards
Work methodically and follow service processes to deliver a high standard of workmanship
