Read, interpret and execute drawings and building code specifications to see the layout of commercial mechanical equipment installations
Install, repair or replace domestic and commercial plumbing systems
Install, repair or replace domestic and commercial heating systems
Do preventative maintenance and testing of plumbing systems (water hygiene)
Conduct preventative and maintenance programmes and also keep maintenance records
May install, maintain and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices
Undertake tasks on heating and ventilation systems and associated controls
Fully comply with standards and procedures of industry safety manuals and abide to safety rules at all times
Training:
You will get on and off the job training and will follow a comprehensive induction and training plan. You will attend college at either the on a day release basis. On successful completion you will be awarded the Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician Level 3.

Ensure jobs are raised in Maximo to address all known defects. Order all required materials and where appropriate feed the job into the plan
Act as a Performing Authority and Isolating Authority as required
To assist with projects, working with vendors and sub-contractors as required
Ensure a clear and concise discipline handover is provided on each crew change
Management of spares and test gases to enable testing/calibration of gas monitors
Ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are always adhered to and actively promoted

Training:Rail Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
Your apprenticeship training will take place at Northern, Myerscough College and NTAR (National Training Academy for Rail)
On successful completion you will be gaining a Level 3 Rail Engineering qualification in Traction and Rolling Stock
Your first two years learning will be split between learning at Myerscough College in Preston (accommodation will be provided) where you start with a qualification at L2 & L3 Traction and Rolling Stock qualification and at your home Depot
Year 3 will be spent at your depot building your knowledge, gaining experience and in your final year you'll be putting the theory and knowledge you have learnt into practice. In this last year, you will be continuing learning at the depot and expanding knowledge with further modules:

Starting as a Rail Engineering Technician Apprentice you will have the opportunity to follow a range of different career paths
Once qualified, you can apply to work within Northern, perhaps within the production teams employed as a Maintenance Engineer with potential to then move on to be a Team Leader or Technical Engineer. Alternatively, you could move around - from production to safety for example

You will help incorporate the design, construction and commissioning of plant and equipment mainly within the Water sector
You will play a vital role in the design, planning and programming of the MEP aspects of the projects we deliver; working with design and operational teams to support the design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of projects
Be involved in the design phase of construction projects, providing buildability & commissioning knowledge to assist the design engineers
Getting involved in hands on practical work as well as supervisory activities
Training:You will receive full on the job training by your dedicated mentor. Your apprenticeship will be supported by an external service provider at college or in a classroom environment. This training may be carried out virtually, in a local office, onsite or at the training provider premises in Peterborough, which may need you to stay away from home but all related expenses will be covered by JN Bentley.
You will work towards your Level 3 Utilities Engineering Technician apprenticeship. Training Outcome:You will be a permanent employee from day one with JN Bentley, however, when you complete your initial apprenticeship qualification, you will be considered for further training. This will be discussed with both your mentor and our Learning and Development team.
From completing a level 3 qualification, this could then lead to you having the opportunity to carry out higher or degree apprenticeships in your preferred field within the mechanical, electrical and process remit.
