Job Role & Key Responsibilities:
Carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across a bakery production environment (ovens, mixers, packaging lines, gearboxes, pumps)
Diagnose and repair electrical faults, minimising production downtime
Interpret and work from electrical diagrams and technical drawings
Support mechanical breakdowns and assist the wider team with multi-skilled engineering tasks
Fault-find and troubleshoot electrical systems including inverters, motors, and PLCs (preferably Siemens)
Ensure all work complies with health & safety standards and internal maintenance procedures
Work collaboratively with other engineers and production staff to ensure equipment reliability and optimal performance
Take part in continuous improvement initiatives to boost efficiency and plant uptime
Undergo ongoing technical training and development
The ideal candidate:
Electrically qualified: NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (essential)
Proven experience working in a multi-skilled maintenance role with strong electrical bias
Confident in electrical fault finding, interpreting wiring diagrams, and working with control panels
Comfortable with 3-phase motors, inverters, and PLC fault finding (preferably Siemens)
Familiar with working in FMCG or fast-paced industrial settings
A flexible team player with good problem-solving and communication skills
Willing and able to complete an electrical competency test during the interview process
Desirable Skills:
Previous experience in food, FMCG, or packaging industries
Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, automation, and controls
Experience with STAR-DELTA circuits, current flow analysis, and component troubleshooting
Additional mechanical knowledge (gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, etc.)
Ability to work under pressure and within tight production schedules
