Holt Engineering is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer to commission, maintain, and repair EV charging equipment across the UK, including AC chargers, Rapid DC, Ultra and High-Power Charging (HPC) systems.
This position suits an engineer with a strong electrical background who can work autonomously and deliver high-quality on-site support. The successful candidate will ensure EV charging stations operate reliably, safely, and to the standards expected by clients and end users.
The role involves working in varied environments, including outdoor locations and confined spaces. Occasional travel and overnight stays will be required.
Essential requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification
- Minimum 2 years experience in a field-based engineering role (commissioning, maintenance, or repair of electrical systems/equipment)
- Proven ability to work independently on customer sites and resolve issues without direct supervision
- Experience working in SLA-driven environments
- Familiarity with test and measurement tools such as multimeters and voltage testers

As a Dr. Martens apprentice, you will be working alongside the production team at our Made in England Factory, Wollaston, Northamptonshire, where our iconic 1460 boot was born. Surrounded by our footwear production experts, you’ll learn in a supportive and collaborative fast-paced environment, integrating traditional hands-on skills with innovative manufacturing technology. You will learn the footwear production process from start to finish.
Daily activities will include gaining experience in the following areas:
Clicking: operating cutting presses to specified quality standards, minimising wastage of skins and using innovative leather scanning and digital cutting technology
Closing: creating Dr. Martens uppers using a variety of sewing machines and other specialist machinery
Lasting: shaping the shoe around a last and attaching the sole to our famous yellow stitched welt
Shoe room: adding the final touches- lacing, cleaning, and boxing ready for dispatch
Training:The apprenticeship runs for 15 months in our Made in England factory. You will learn everything to do with Dr. Martens footwear manufacturing as well as aspects such as the tanning process, sizing, other footwear constructions and health and safety.
We are closely connected with Northampton College, where you will study and learn throughout the year, as well as with other companies in the footwear industry around Northamptonshire.

Service Desk & Client Support:
Act as first point of contact for client IT issues (phone, email, portal)
Log, categorise and prioritise tickets accurately within the PSA system
Provide first-line technical support across Microsoft 365, Windows, networking and business applications
Escalate appropriately with full documentation and troubleshooting notes
Triage telephony (VoIP) issues for clients
Maintain clear communication with clients throughout ticket lifecycle
Cloud & Identity Support:
Assist with Microsoft 365 user setup, licensing and mailbox management
Support Entra ID user management and basic conditional access troubleshooting
Assist with SharePoint and Teams configuration queries
Endpoint & Security:
Support endpoint deployments and configuration
Assist with MDM policy application and device compliance checks
Monitor security alerts (EDR, backup, threat alerts) and escalate where required
Learn and apply cybersecurity best practices in all work undertaken
Projects & Continuous Improvement:
Assist engineers with client onboarding and migration projects
Participate in documentation improvement within the knowledge base
Support internal system improvements and automation initiatives
Follow and contribute to standard operating procedures
Training:Alongside this role, you will study towards your Level 3 Information Communications Technician Apprenticeship qualification, on either the Network Technician or the Support Technician pathway.
You will receive blended training, which includes weekly live, online training sessions and access to on-demand resources via the Pluralsight online learning platform.
In addition to this, you will also have a review with your Skills Coach every 6-8 weeks, to ensure you are happy and on-track with your Apprenticeship.Training Outcome:There is an opportunity for a full-time role with the employer upon completion of the apprenticeship, and the potential to progress on to a Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship.
