Role
The Apprentice Engineer will be responsible for developing skills in the maintenance, and optimisation of systems that combine mechanical and electrical engineering.

Footwear manufacturing is highly skilled work. As a Dr. Martens apprentice, you will be working alongside the production team at our Made in England Factory, Wollaston, Northamptonshire, where our iconic 1460 boot was born. Surrounded by our footwear production experts, you’ll learn in a supportive and collaborative fast-paced environment, integrating traditional hands-on skills with innovative manufacturing technology. You will learn the footwear production process from start to finish.
Daily activities will include gaining experience in the following areas:
Clicking: operating cutting presses to specified quality standards, minimising wastage of skins and using innovative leather scanning and digital cutting technology
Closing: creating Dr. Martens uppers using a variety of sewing machines and other specialist machinery
Lasting: shaping the shoe around a last and attaching the sole to our famous yellow stitched welt
Shoe room: adding the final touches- lacing, cleaning, and boxing ready for dispatch
Training:The apprenticeship runs for 15 months in our Made in England factory. You will learn everything to do with Dr. Martens footwear manufacturing as well as aspects such as the tanning process, sizing, other footwear constructions and health and safety.
We are closely connected with Northampton College, where you will study and learn throughout the year, as well as with other companies in the footwear industry around Northamptonshire.
Your study programme will require you to attend Northampton College two days per month.

THE HR MANAGER ROLE:

This position oversees daily activities on the shipping docks, including assigning and monitoring tasks to ensure efficient workflow.
The shift schedule is 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities:
Appointment creation and verification, shipment closing, and trailer check-in and checkout processes
Act as liaison with carriers and drivers to coordinate outbound shipments from the DAP Baltimore Distribution Center
Assists Shipping Supervisor during periods of increased customer requirements (such as exports, stickering, and UPS processing)
Ensures all shipments are processed by customer specifications, complete, accurate, and free of damage
Requirements:
Coordinate the movement of trailers into and out of the facility's docks
Perform daily shipment audits to ensure all shipments are accurately picked and staged according to scheduled appointment times
Execute all required electronic transactions, including shipment check-in/check-out, assigning tasks, verifying that each shipment includes the required BOL and meets all customer specifications, creating and completing appointments, and proactively identifying and resolving shipment discrepancies
Ensure that all orders are shipped in accordance with established policies, procedures, and customer requirements, including complete and proper wrapping, paperwork, and loading
Work in a safe manner through compliance with all DC, departmental, and OSHA policies and procedures
Support day-to-day activities of the Distribution Center by performing alternative duties such as loading orders, assisting floor and forklift personnel, stickering cases, running paperwork for pulled orders, running labels, maintaining sufficient departmental supplies, driving forklift, UPS machine and assisting with other-departmental functions as deemed necessary to satisfy internal and external customer needs

The Scheduler/ Planner analyzes and schedules production activities, material equipment, etc. runs for the scheduling of production and packaging of DAP product to meet market demand for finished product which directly impacts cost, quality, and customer service levels. Uses knowledge of production process and machine capabilities to analyze manufacturing orders and create production schedules.
Responsibilities:
Schedules manufacturing operations to effectively and efficiently meet the requirements and priorities specified during the scheduling process. Creates schedule defining the production requirements necessary to meet inventory levels.
Interface with various teams to support material status. Pulls production data for the next 24 hours for discussion at the daily production meeting. Meets with Operations Team members to discuss delivery, performance, and quality issues and works with them to expedite production in order to meeting increasing or earlier than expected production demands.
Reviews production schedule, low inventory report, critical inventory report, desired production levels and staffing. Resolves production planning issues. Prepares various reports. Revises schedules as needed to accommodate changes in execution.
Monitors production schedules and communicates shortages that can be covered by stock transfers from other plants. Assist with additional schedules to cover shortages at other plants when necessary.
Plans annual physical inventory activities and other special projects as necessary.
Interface with the department manager and the Corporate SIOP team to control inventory variances.
May be assigned to other duties as required.
Requirements
Associates degree preferred.
1 - 3 years of experience in relevant field.
Analytical skills in forecasting and anticipation of production needs. Strong interpersonal skills.
Familiar with SAP and the scheduling codes associated with the program (CM29).
Statistical control skills. Experience working in an Inventory Control, Materials, Purchasing or Production Planning environment.
No disciplinary actions of Written Warning or higher within the last year.
Logical reasoning abilities; knowledge of processes, applications, terminology, forecasting and facility capabilities.
Basic PC/Windows skills.

Identify the material used in the construction to enable the correct joining techniques and manufacturer specifications to be adhered to
Interpret relevant technical data and methods to make sure that any joints are in line with vehicle manufacturer specification and the vehicle/body panels are aligned correctly
Ability to identify and understand the correct joining technology
Remove, repair, and replace vehicle body panels and components of the vehicle safely and efficiently
Operate the correct repair tools, equipment and devices used in the process, panel pulling systems, jig and alignment tools, spot welders, brazing tools
Identify and communicate supplementary damage such as panels that were deemed to be reparable but once worked on were found to be beyond repair along with damage that could not be established on original inspection

Review project site Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, method statements and risk assessments, including associated plans in line with planned work activities.
Generate and conduct toolbox talks, generate and brief safety alerts and assist in customer/ principal contractor briefings when called upon.
Provide coaching and instruction to health and safety advisors, Project employees and contractors with regards to safety.
Ensure all incidents, observations and suggestions are correctly reported, where necessary investigated, and support provided to the project teams to close out and address issues raised.
Asist in the generation, review and maintenance of project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans (HASEMP).
Attend and provide health, safety and wellbeing input at Principal Contractor/ Customer Project safety meetings.
Attend and provide health and safety input at Business Sector/ Project Meetings.
Communicate to the Head of Operational Health and Safety on matters of health, safety and environment including updates on Asite (Reporting System).
Maintain project specific Health, Safety and Environmental performance indicators including customer indicators.
Environment
Promote, champion and implement across projects and offices, the Sustainable component of the Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Strategy.
Provide support, guidance and advice to both office and site locations on environmental matters, in-line with our environmental Policies and Procedures.
