Applications are invited from Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join the ED team based at the main Hospital site on the beautiful Island of Guernsey, in the Channel Islands.The ED operates on a 24/7 basis and offers emergency care for the entire population of Guernsey from the island’s main 162 bedded general hospital.The department receives unrestricted emergency patients at all hours, including children and adults who may be suffering from any conceivable emergency condition. These include medical and surgical patients, trauma of varying severity, children, gynaecological emergencies, mental health problems and minor illness or injury.The department treats 19,000 patients per annum and acts as the single point of assessment for all acute hospital admissions and referrals from the islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm, with demand increasing during the holiday season.There is a regular need to assess patients referred by GPs to the on call in-patient specialists from the MSG. These patients are sent to the ED for assessment, where the department functions like an MAU/SAU. The salary for this post is £109,663 to £147,439 dependant on experience in addition to an 8% on-call allowance and a CEA payment of between £8,871 to £17,742 per annum.This is a Consultant-led department; the MDT comprises Doctors, Nurses, Radiographers.
