Were recruiting for a Floating Panel Beater to join an established Bodyshop group, providing additional support across their sites throughout the Northwest.
ð§ A Genuine Roaming Role
This isnt a role based at just one Bodyshop.
As the groups Floating Panel Beater, youll travel between multiple sites across the Northwest, providing valuable additional support where its needed most.
Youll be brought in to cover:
- Sickness and unexpected staff shortages
- Holidays and planned absences
- Busy periods and increased workloads
- Backlogs and additional repair demand
- General additional support across the groups Bodyshops
This is an ideal opportunity for a versatile and experienced Panel Beater who enjoys variety, is comfortable working at different locations and wants to play a key role in keeping Bodyshop operations running efficiently.
ð§ The Role
As a Panel Beater, your responsibilities will include:
- Operating body alignment jigs
- Carrying out panel straightening and repairs
- Panel replacement and structural repairs
- Welding and bonding vehicle structures
- Removing and replacing complete body shells where required
- Accurately identifying and listing parts required for repairs
- Ensuring all repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Working safely and following manufacturer repair methods and procedures

- Time served and/or qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3
- ATA qualification advantageous but not essential

Strong mechanical knowledge, including troubleshooting and repair of pumps, gearboxes, motors, chains, sprockets, pulleys, and belts
Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
Skilled in welding, fabrication, and use of cutting equipment
Basic computer skills, including the use of email and maintenance
High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or training is a plus
Requirements:
Must be able to work Monday - Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with occasional overtime based on production and maintenance needs.
Self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision.Physical Requirements:
The ability to stand, walk, lift, and move for extended periods. Regular activities include standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel objects, reaching with arms, speaking, and hearing. Frequent actions include climbing or balancing, while occasional tasks may involve sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
The technician must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional vibration, with moderate noise levels typical of an industrial setting.

The Role – Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently and reliably.Working as part of the maintenance team, you'll be responsible for identifying and resolving mechanical faults, reducing downtime and supporting ongoing improvements across the manufacturing operation.Your key responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production machinery.
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise production downtime.
Fault finding and maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
Supporting machinery installations, repairs and engineering improvements.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced, apprentice-trained Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Mechanial Fitter with a strong mechanical background and proven experience maintaining production machinery within a manufacturing or industrial environment.Essential requirements:
Must be apprentice trained in Mechanical Engineering – this is an essential requirement.
Proven experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, Maintenance Fitter or Mechanical Engineer within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Strong mechanical fault-finding, diagnostic and repair skills.
Excellent working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems.
