An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Communications Engineer to join an advanced avionics team working on cutting-edge spacecraft missions. This role will play a key part in the design, development, and verification of spacecraft communications subsystems, supporting complex missions from concept through to launch and operations.
Youll take ownership of the communications subsystem, working across disciplines including systems engineering, Command & Data Handling (C&DH), procurement, and Assembly, Integration & Verification (AIV). This is a hands-on, senior-level role requiring both strong technical expertise and the confidence to lead within a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own communications work packages, including subsystem design baseline and architecture, requirements management and VCD activities
- Develop, review, and maintain spacecraft data and RF link budgets
- Model and simulate space-to-ground communications links
- Select, procure, and manage suppliers for communications hardware.
- Perform antenna and multipath analysis, including interference and impingement assessments
- Support frequency licensing and ITU regulatory activities
- Support ground station selection and interface discussions with ground segment teams
- Plan and execute unit-level acceptance testing
- Generate verification and validation plans and test procedures for communications systems
- Manage resources, schedules, and cost estimates in line with applicable standards and regulations
- Mentor and support junior engineers within the communications team

Requirements
5+ years of backend engineering experience with Python
Strong hands-on experience with async/await patterns, asyncio, and non-blocking I/O
Solid production experience with FastAPI and REST API design (OpenAPI / Swagger)
Proven experience building MCP servers using FastMCP (critical requirement)
Experience with Redis for distributed state management and caching

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is an engineering science-based profession that requires competent Engineering Technicians to inspect materials, welds, components and plant to verify their integrity without rendering them unfit for further service. NDT is a useful background to many Asset Integrity Engineers and In-Service Inspectors for pressure and other systems.
Roles and responsibilities;
Plan and coordinate non-destructive technology (NDT) work to meet stakeholders’ requirements.
Test equipment, identifying faults and taking action as needed.
Establish resources required to ensure customer and site compliance against defined acceptance criteria. For example, accept all cracks to a certain length, and in a particular position, then report other findings in a technical report.
Receive, read, and interpret engineering data and documentation.
Assess the condition of the asset, component or material for compliance with stakeholders’ requirements acceptance criteria. Identify and fix issues with the asset, component or material, re-testing as needed. Report any defects and irregularities.
Collect NDT samples, record measurement points, monitoring intervals and operational state.
Conduct NDT testing and checks using testing, measuring or monitoring equipment on materials and components.
Inform stakeholders of work status and results. For example, internal and external customers.
