What You Will Do at Work:
As a Degree Laboratory Apprentice Technician, you will support the delivery of laboratory services across the University of Liverpool’s central city campus while studying towards a Level 6 Laboratory Scientist (Biosciences) degree.
You will be part of a collaborative technical team based in multiple buildings, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of teaching and research laboratories.
Your responsibilities will include:• Maintaining clean, safe, and well-equipped laboratory environments, including routine housekeeping, waste disposal, and equipment care.• Assisting with the setup and clear away of materials for undergraduate and postgraduate practical sessions, including preparing media, solutions, and basic experiments.• Supporting class preparation, simple laboratory analyses, and routine technical tasks under supervision.• Delivering laboratory inductions and basic skills training for students and staff and assisting with occasional demonstrations.• Monitoring and maintaining specialist equipment, arranging servicing, and helping users operate equipment safely and effectively.• Taking a lead role in laboratory management, including safety, maintenance, and operational planning, as your experience develops.• Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and other relevant documentation, with guidance from senior staff.• Applying health and safety procedures, including risk assessments, audits, and incident reporting, under supervision.• Managing stock levels, handling deliveries, cataloguing samples, and supporting the organisation of laboratory assets.• Participating in wider university activities such as open days, outreach events, and sustainability initiatives (e.g., LEAF).• Contributing to experimental research and your final-year project as part of your degree qualification.

The successful applicant will handle a caseload of pre and post-litigated claims brought primarily under Sections 9a and 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985. Focusing on all aspects of housing disrepair claims, you will handle cases from inception to conclusion, complying with the Pre Action-Protocol for Housing Conditions.
Key tasks:

The successful applicant:
Our team structure means that we can support applicants with varying degrees of prior experience and have successfully supported several staff who have re-trained from fast paced litigation backgrounds such as personal injury.
Successful candidates will be confident communicators with a high level of written and verbal skills and good attention to detail. You must be well organised and able to work in a busy environment with the ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight timescales.
It is preferable that candidates be educated to degree level, and those applying for more senior fee earning roles may possess FILEX, ILEX qualifications or similar experience.

This role will involve a wide-range of administration activities to support the smooth running of a busy school. No two days are ever the same in the school office and the successful candidate will have lots of opportunities to learn different skills.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing a professional, friendly and efficient first point of contact for parents, pupils, staff, visitors and contractors; dealing with and responding to enquiries received in person, by telephone and by email
Undertaking a wide range of administrative support to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services, ensuring confidentiality at all times
Providing practical assistance in the preparation of materials to support teaching and learning within the school – including but not limited to photocopying, scanning, printing and laminating
Being responsible for stock control of reprographics equipment (e.g. photocopier toner orders, paper stocks)

Working with other Administration colleagues to support the administration function of the school
Use of School Management Information System (Arbor) as required
Other administrative tasks required to support the business needs of the school and Senior Leadership Team as required and which are commensurate with the grade
Taking responsibility to the receipt of goods and orders, checking items against the purchase order to ensure all items have been received
Supporting the Finance Administrator with order reconciliation
Preparing and circulating communication to parents and carers to ensure that communication is regular, accurate and professional

Administrative Duties
