As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the specification, design and implementation of complete PLC-based control systems for automation projects. This role combines electrical design, PLC/HMI software development, commissioning and technical customer support, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys both hands-on delivery and technical problem-solving.
Key responsibilities for the Controls Engineer based in Cheshire include:
Design and develop complete PLC-based control systems for automation projects.
Develop PLC and HMI software solutions, primarily using Siemens and Rockwell platforms.
Design electrical control panels and electrical installations, including calculations and supporting documentation.
Carry out testing, fault finding, rectification and commissioning activities on customer sites.
Support and monitor on-site installation activities for automation systems.
Produce internal and customer-facing technical documentation including URS, FDS, HMI/SCADA specifications and electrical specifications.
Contribute to the development and standardisation of PLC software, HMI systems, control architectures and electrical hardware.
Deliver customer training and support successful system handovers.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure delivery of best-in-class control system solutions.
Support the sales team with technical input for proposals and customer deliverables.
Provide customer support as part of a 24/7 support rota, including remote troubleshooting and occasional site attendance.
Ensure smooth handover of completed projects to the customer support team, including provision of “as-built” drawings and software documentation.
Key skills required for the role of Controls Engineer based in Cheshire include:
Proven experience designing and delivering PLC-based automation control systems.

Support employee relations activities including coaching, performance management, attendance support, and documentation in collaboration with the Manager and People & Culture.
Maintain training records, operating procedures, inspection documentation, and other administrative records related to maintenance operations.
Participate in operational planning, event readiness meetings, site walkthroughs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Perform other related duties as required.
What else?
3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction, operations, trades coordination, municipal/public-space maintenance, or a related environment.
Previous experience providing leadership, direction, or supervision to staff in a maintenance, facilities, grounds, construction, or operational setting is preferred.
Completion of a post-secondary certificate, diploma, trades qualification, facilities management training, construction-related training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is considered an asset.
Knowledge of facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance, building systems, site infrastructure, equipment, preventative maintenance practices, and safe work procedures.
Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, such as Limble CMMS, is considered an asset.
Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, inspections, corrective actions, and maintenance work in a busy operational environment.
Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements, hazard identification, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.
Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and leadership skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive, publicly visible environment.
Ability to respond effectively to urgent issues, changing priorities, event requirements, and operational demands.
Ability to foster effective working relationships with staff, peers, contractors, unionized employees, external agencies, and internal departments.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a broader Facilities & Maintenance leadership team.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications; experience with work order systems, scheduling tools, or project tracking systems is considered an asset.

The Opportunity
A rare and impactful contract opportunity has emerged for a talented GTM Product Marketing Manager to join this well-regarded business on a part-time basis. Based in their Sydney office three days per week, this six-month engagement is all about building the foundation. You will design and implement the go-to-market processes and planning frameworks needed to successfully deliver a new product onshore, setting the stage for seamless execution once you hand the baton over. Key Accountabilities
Develop and implement a comprehensive go-to-market strategy and planning framework to support the successful onshore delivery of an offshore-developed product
Define what is required locally to bring the product to the Australian market, assessing gaps and establishing the right processes from the ground up
Create detailed planning documentation and process maps that enable a smooth transition to execution once the framework is complete
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all GTM requirements are clearly understood, aligned, and ready for handover
Identify risks, dependencies, and considerations relevant to the local market, building contingency into the overall plan
Establish clear timelines, milestones, and accountability structures so the incoming Product Manager can hit the ground running
Ideal Experience
Demonstrated background in product marketing or go-to-market strategy, ideally within a complex or matrixed organisation

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to assess local market requirements and translate them into actionable strategies
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with confidence working across cross-functional teams
Experience working on product localisation or market entry initiatives is highly regarded
