The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of process and facility-related equipment. Equipment inspection includes preventative maintenance (PM) and associated documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with all safety policies (especially Cardinal Rules - e.g. Hot Work, LOTO, Confined Space)

Diagnose/Troubleshoot, repair/replace and maintain facility mechanical systems (e.g. product vessels/reactors, pumps) and components (e.g. piping, manual valves)
Investigate equipment/process failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation
Assist Maintenance Supervisor to arrange and coordinate contractor tasks (including equipment rental) to support facility and process maintenance/repairs
Serve, as needed, on process hazard analysis (PHA) teams/sessions
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma required
EXPERIENCE:
One-year certificate from college or technical school and 1-2 years' experience OR
High School Diploma and 4 years' experience
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
People Interaction - Ability to work with diverse groups to reach consensus regarding problems, and needed changes
Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance

You will work alongside experienced technicians and engineers to safely and efficiently support the manufacturing process.
This can involve:
·Supporting planned preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities on a variety of electrical systems and critical production equipment.
Assisting with the calibration, testing, and maintenance of process instrumentation, including temperature, flow, level, and pressure measurement devices.
Developing fault-finding skills through the use of electrical drawings, diagnostic equipment, and structured problem-solving techniques to identify and resolve equipment issues.
Helping to build, wire, modify, and install electrical control panels and associated control systems.
Contributing to installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects that enhance plant reliability, operational performance, and safety.
Learning how to safely plan, document, and complete maintenance activities in accordance with permit-to-work procedures, isolation standards, and COMAH site safety requirements.

What You’ll Deliver
Working with a fully qualified and experienced Electrician to:
Ensure the effective delivery of service in line with Axis CLC Health and Safety policies and procedures
Ensure and undertake any recording of work and administration required by Axis CLC standards and timescales
Report any Health and Safety issues and outstanding defects to the Electrical Supervisor, Contracts Manager, Electrical Qualifying
Manager, Health and Safety team and Apprentice Master
Work as an integral team member with other apprentices, Axis CLC operatives, clients, customers and tenants
Attend Axis CLC Induction, Health and Safety training, Toolbox talks and College Induction
Undertake electrical work to a safe, clean and healthy standard
Learn how to cost electrical work with your Axis CLC Mentor, identifying cost reduction methods
Ensure college course attendance is 100% and college absence communicated to your Line Manager and Apprentice Master every time you fail to attend college
Ensure that you meet your operative on time on a daily basis
Communicate any absence from work as per your contractual terms and conditions
Communicate college requirements for completion of NVQ Level 3 portfolio work with AxisCLC Mentor, Apprentice Master and Contracts Manager
Ensure electrical work is delivered in a professional manner, in line with Axis CLC Core Values and Equality standards
Always wear your PPE whilst working and follow Health & Safety instructions
Pass all college exams and projects in each year of college otherwise your apprenticeship will be terminated
Put together and maintain a tool kit so at the end of your apprenticeship, you have all essential tools for your trade
Follow all company policies and procedures
Training:Learning will take place one day per week at college, the remainder of the week will be spent working alongside an experienced Electrician.
