The Pipe Fabrication / Fitter role encompasses the positioning, assembly, fabrication, maintenance, repair of piping systems. This can include working in environments with systems that may carry water, steam, food, pharmaceutical, chemicals, gas, hydrocarbons or fuel which may be used in cooling, heating, lubricating and other processes.
You will work with various pipe materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and composites. These materials can vary from 6mm to 1000 in diameter and from 5 mm up to 75 mm in thickness dependent upon the content of the pipes and the operating pressures of the systems. The role requires the knowledge and skills to implement the specified method of jointing required within often complex piping systems. The Pipefitter must be able to work autonomously and as part of a team ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental, processes and procedures.
You will be expected to take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work and be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying improvements to processes.

The Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 is a 3-year scheme that will expose you to different areas of engineering support across three world-class programmes, offering real life engineering experience that facilitates your learning and development.

As a Data Analyst Apprentice you will experience, learn and develop key skills to help you manage complex projects.
You will help to ensure that the project you are assigned to stays on track by conducting a range of analytical studies. You will: maintain, update and report on key project data; identify any potential issues as the project progresses and help make effective decisions to assist the project in achieving its objectives. As an apprentice scaffolder, you'll spend three and a half years receiving comprehensive training whilst you work as part of a qualified and competent scaffolding team. You will be trained to take responsibility for the safe construction and dismantling of working platforms at our sites.
You will undertake a CITB Scaffold training course, which involves attending a two week block of scaffolding training four times a year at an approved training provider in Blackburn, you will gain further evidence for this working in the workplace production environment. You will learn the basic skills of using relevant hand tools and machinery together with Health & Safety requirements for your role before progressing on to more in depth training in the use of scaffolding systems and techniques.
As an apprentice scaffolder you will receive comprehensive training in an on-the-job and off-the-job environment. A Digital Technology and Solutions Professional Degree apprenticeship involves working and learning alongside experienced practitioners. It combines spending periods of time at University, where you will acquire an Honours Degree, with time working on real projects, enhancing the skills necessary to develop a long career in the industry.

On the Nuclear Engineering Degree Apprenticeship Scheme at BAE Systems Submarines, you will be part of a team working on some of the biggest nuclear engineering projects in the world.
The nuclear degree apprenticeship is a truly cross-functional scheme working across multiple and varied nuclear areas at Barrow.
The nuclear scheme offers a mix of office, production and submarines based placements, which daily allow you to be involved with the many mechanical engineering activities required within the nuclear build and manufacturing environment. These diverse placements enable you to develop and use project management skills, as you support the safe construction and delivery of another quality nuclear capability.
In the first three years of the nuclear scheme you will have the opportunity to undertake several nuclear development placements in Dreadnought and Astute Reactor Operations, the Nuclear Primary Build Organisation, Test & Commissioning and Nuclear Safety and Regulation. The primary role of a Systems Engineer is to design, develop and test designs and solutions, which can extend from components and equipment to more complete and complex integrated systems. You will be part of the Integrated Combat Systems Engineering community, and contribute to the Submarines programmes, ensuring these are delivered to time, cost and quality requirements.
During this 4 year Degree (Level 6) apprenticeship programme, you will have the opportunity to engage in a wide and exciting range of activities, from detailed requirements and performance analysis, generation of test procedures and reviewing of evidence. To writing technical specifications and contributing to the ongoing development and qualification of vital submarine structures, systems and equipment. You will apply your knowledge of electronics and of embedded software to the design of circuits or devices that provide a useful function, that are capable of being manufactured at a competitive cost, and that are reliable and safe in use.
You will be enrolled in the Embedded Electronics Engineering apprenticeship programme; your first year will spent gaining the essential foundation academic knowledge required for your role. You will then continue your academic journey, and gain exposure to different areas of Integrated Combat Systems by undertaking a variety of placements, where you will undertake a range of engineering activities to become proficient in your role. Year 1:
You will undertake your training at the Aircraft Maintenance Academy in Humberside.
You will complete your Level 2 apprenticeship standard.
You will be trained in both practical and theory-based engineering.
You will learn the basics to give you a grounding for completing your placements in engineering.
One day a week at college.
Years 2, 3 and 4:
Most placements will be office/home based using computer based tools with interaction with our customers, suppliers and aircraft.
You will continue with academic studies and learning, this includes completing a HNC in aeronautical engineering which will require 1 day a week at college.
You will complete six placements across various programmes within the Air business.
The six placements will give you the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of engineering areas including design, systems, in-service support, flight test, mission systems and integration.
You will gain experience on all stages of an aircraft lifecycle, giving you a well-rounded skill set and knowledge base.
In the final 6 months you’ll complete an End Point Assessment, where you’ll create a portfolio of tasks that you’ve completed in your role and present them to an assessor to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you’ve developed throughout the scheme.

Our Level 4 Finance Higher Apprenticeship scheme aims to develop A-level or equivalent qualified individuals into Chartered Management Accountants with a broad understanding of all aspects of finance and how these fit into the wider business organisation. On our Level 4 Finance Higher Apprenticeship, you’ll complete the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting over a two year period.
This will be studied alongside the relevant skills and behaviours to be successful in your role. To complement your studies, the Apprenticeship has been designed to expose you to a variety of Finance roles. Each role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your finance and business acumen skills as well as growing your soft skills. For the duration of the scheme, you’ll work towards your apprenticeship whilst rotating around some core areas within Finance and studying through day release.

Working in Project Control means you will be the beating heart of a given project, ensuring that the plans, schedules and risk management is in place for the project. Analysis of the progress against those plans and schedules will be your responsibility; providing regular updates and recommendations to the wider project team.
The understanding of the project's performance, looking at trends, highlighting potential issues, forecasting prospective outcomes, identification of mitigating actions and recommendations to the project team will enable the project to be delivered on time, cost and quality (the key facets of any project).
