An established industrial business is seeking an experienced Mechanical Plant Fitter to support the maintenance and reliability of their production site.
This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving and working on large-scale plant and equipment within a fast-paced operational environment. You'll play a key role in ensuring production assets remain safe, reliable and available, whilst contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
The Role
Reporting into the Engineering Team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of fixed and mobile plant equipment across a heavy industrial environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Responding to mechanical breakdowns and restoring plant safely and efficiently
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
Diagnosing faults and implementing long-term engineering solutions
Maintaining conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, gearboxes, motors and associated plant equipment
Performing welding, fabrication and mechanical repair work
Supporting shutdowns, inspections and maintenance projects
Working closely with operational teams, contractors and suppliers
Recording maintenance activities using maintenance management systems
Promoting high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance

Maintain network security by ensuring latest Windows patches are applied and anti-virus updates are installed.
Maintenance of firewall policies for both security and to create a safe browsing environment for users.
Escalate support tickets to external third line support when necessary and work with them to find a solution.
Maintain the school network build image (to deploy to desktops and laptops) on a regular basis to ensure it is up to date. This includes importing necessary driver packages, adding required software, removing obsolete software, and editing the task sequences.
The latest Windows operating systems also need to be imported and tested with the network build.
Install and configure network switches when required (including both physical mounting and configuring the networking/VLANs on each switch).
Regularly check systems to detect, diagnose and resolve basic faults. Interpret diagnostic information, prioritise resolutions and report more complicated faults to the Senior ICT Services Manager.
Set up ICT equipment such as PCs, printers, laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist ICT equipment, ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly.
Follow a proactive schedule of ICT maintenance across the College.
Provide technical support for College events (e.g. assembly, open evening, parents’ evening) where required.
Oversee Stage AV equipment and student technical assistance.
Support staff and students with technical aspects of ICT. Provide information, advice and assistance for teachers, students and support staff on the use of ICT equipment, software (including Cloud-based applications) and associated procedures.
Assist staff in solving any problems with the College’s ICT Systems and to liaise with the Senior ICT Services Manager and external agencies/companies as necessary.
Maintain a comprehensive database of all ICT support requests.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of ICT hardware.

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Service & Maintenance Engineer to join a growing renewables and heating business covering the Thurso and wider Caithness area.
This is a field-based role focused on diagnosing faults, carrying out maintenance, servicing and repairs across domestic heating and renewable energy systems.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heating, service engineering or renewables and will be confident working independently in customers’ homes.
The Role
As Service & Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for:
Carrying out planned and reactive servicing
Fault finding and diagnosing heating system issues
Repairing and maintaining heat pump systems
Supporting air source and ground source heat pump installations
Working across oil and gas heating systems where required
Attending customer properties across the local area
