About the Role
We are recruiting for a Housing Caseworker on behalf of a well-established local authority in Devon. This role involves assisting individuals and families at risk of homelessness by providing high-quality advocacy, advice, and support. You will focus on preventing homelessness, helping clients retain their current accommodation, and ensuring statutory housing obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively provide tailored housing advice and advocacy to individuals at risk of homelessness.
Develop and implement Personalised Housing Plans to address housing difficulties.
Collaborate with landlords, solicitors, courts, and multi-agency teams to prevent homelessness.
Assess eligibility for housing support in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Manage a caseload of clients, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely decision-making.
Provide advice on accessing private and social housing options, including affordability assessments.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A minimum of one year’s experience in a similar public-facing role working with homelessness or vulnerable clients.
Excellent knowledge of housing legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
A commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
Desirable Criteria:
A Certificate in Housing Practice or equivalent qualification in Health/Social Care.
Knowledge of welfare benefits systems and landlord-tenant law.

The role would suit residential conveyancers with upwards of 2 years’ experience handling their own caseload of residential conveyancing cases. The work:
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with one or a limited number of commercial house builder clients, both regional, national and boutique. You will run your own low volume, manageable caseload of plot sales, averaging at 23 completions per month both in the private and social housing sector. You will work within a small team of 3 with your respective clients and sit in a wider plot sales team of around 15 people. There is an opportunity for the right candidate to build their own small team and move into team lead positions. There is the opportunity to move into the wider residential development world, dealing with infrastructure, site set up and acquisitions work.

The team have a low staff turnover, and regularly invest into sponsorship for CILEx and CLC for those interested and suitable following an internal application.
What’s on offer?:
A competitive salary up to £40k plus discretionary annual bonus up to 5%. Generally the team work 3 days per week in the office, though are open to 2 days for the right candidate. The team are also able to offer flexibility around hours for those needing to attend appointments, school drop off/ pick up and to make managing home/ family life easier. Working with an array of prestigious high-profile clients, the Patents group undertake work across all matters pertaining to the patent life cycle, a flavour of which includes drafting, prosecution, EPO oppositions, IP strategy and stellar advisors to clients from compelling sectors.
As a team orientated Senior Patent Paralegal, holding the CIPA qualification, it’s essential that you have a thorough understanding of the Patent Formalities process and have 5+ years experience working in a busy IP/Patent firm or department. You will have a strong knowledge of the entire Patent process having worked within a similar Senior Patent Paralegal, Patent Formalities and / or Patent support position. As the team continues to grow there will be future scope for managerial opportunities too – for those who want it.
As a Senior Patent Paralegal, you will be passionate about patent formalities and a forward focused thinker. Day to day you’ll be fully engaged in supporting the Patent Attorneys, providing full formalities support as well as progressing systems, enhancing and adapting the best ways of working and be involved in training and organic growth within the practice. Seeking autonomy and a chance to really establish yourself? You’ll be fully trusted and given plenty of responsibility. There’s no micro-management here!
