The Role
As Unit Clinical Director, you will provide specialist psychiatric care while leading the clinical governance, development and delivery of a Mental Health Intensive Care Unit.
The service provides intensive assessment and management for consumers experiencing acute and high levels of clinical risk, complex diagnostic and management needs, or severe acute symptoms requiring a specialist inpatient environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing specialist psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment
Providing clinical leadership across the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit
Leading and maintaining high-quality, safe and recovery-oriented mental health services
Holding delegated responsibility for clinical governance within the unit
Leading and managing the senior and junior medical workforce
Supporting performance management and professional development of medical staff
Working collaboratively with senior leadership across mental health services
Providing clinical consultation across the broader health district
Supporting multidisciplinary care, recovery-oriented practice and care coordination
Contributing to teaching and training of medical students, graduates, psychiatry trainees and other healthcare professionals
Participating in research, evaluation and quality improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
MBBS or equivalent and current registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
FRANZCP or recognition as a Specialist Psychiatrist by the Medical Board of Australia
Overseas-trained psychiatrists with an appropriate specialist pathway may also be considered
Applicants expecting to obtain FRANZCP within three months may be considered
Demonstrated senior clinical experience in acute psychiatry
Experience across general hospital, community and inpatient psychiatry settings
Experience working within the NSW Mental Health Act 2007
Proven leadership and management experience within multidisciplinary clinical teams
Strong communication skills and experience working with senior and junior medical colleagues, GPs, consumers and carers
Understanding of recovery-oriented and care coordination models
Demonstrated commitment to clinical governance and quality improvement
Experience or willingness to participate in clinical research
Experience teaching medical, nursing and allied health staff and psychiatry trainees
Commitment to state and national mental health priorities
Current NSW Driver Licence

The Role
You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and clinical care within a state forensic mental health service.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based mental health care for patients with complex clinical needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing specialist psychiatric assessment and clinical management
Developing and reviewing comprehensive treatment and management plans
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Supporting clinical decision-making and risk management
Contributing to multidisciplinary case reviews and clinical governance
Providing supervision, education and support to junior medical staff where appropriate
Participating in service improvement, teaching and professional development activities
What We’re Looking For
Specialist registration with AHPRA or eligibility for specialist registration
Fellowship of the RANZCP or equivalent specialist qualification
Demonstrated experience in psychiatry, ideally within complex or forensic mental health settings
Strong clinical assessment, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Commitment to evidence-based practice and high-quality patient care
Strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management and professional standards

The Role

Key responsibilities include:
Delivering specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment
Providing clinical leadership, advice and consultation to GPs and healthcare professionals
Supporting mental health care across child, adolescent, youth and adult populations
Contributing to best-practice mental health initiatives and service development
Chairing clinical reviews and supporting compliance with relevant legislation
Building strong relationships with healthcare providers, carers and community stakeholders
Participating in clinical governance and quality improvement activities
Providing supervision, mentoring and teaching to junior medical staff
Contributing to regional mental health planning and service development
What We’re Looking For
Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
Fellowship of the RANZCP or an approved equivalent
Certificate of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or approved equivalent for CAMHS-focused positions
Penultimate-year RANZCP trainees who have completed all required training components may also be considered
Substantial clinical experience in general adult, child, adolescent and youth psychiatry
Strong clinical leadership and communication skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Willingness to work across regional mental health locations as required
Commitment to evidence-based, high-quality patient care
International applicants from the UK or Ireland who meet the requirements for the Medical Board of Australia's Expedited Specialist Pathway may also be considered.
