In this role you will ensure that all equipment and machinery—both modern and ageing—remain safe, reliable and fully operational through effective reactive and preventative maintenance.
By supporting breakdown response, planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities, the apprentice helps maintain plant performance, uphold safety standards and contribute to the smooth running of a modern steel production facility.
You’ll be supporting the installation, maintenance and improvement of mechanical and electrical systems across the site, carrying out both reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance on a wide range of equipment.
The role involves working on both modern and older plant within a busy steel production environment, responding to breakdowns and helping put corrective actions in place.

Assembly & Installation:
Support the Assembly of blast machines, blast cabinet systems, hose assemblies, and rubber linings under supervision
Learn how to read engineering drawings and follow guidance to prepare and fit mechanical components
Assist with fitting and aligning mechanical components, including frames, panels, motors, and pneumatic systems
Help Install ancillary components such as conveyors, dust extraction units, and safety guards
