Our Project Controls apprentices are offered placements that enable you to be fully immersed in roles across our Project Controls community to gain a significant understanding and application of project controls and building your knowledge and skills in aspects such as:
Risk – Developing an understanding of the principles of risk management, including the considerations needed for mitigating risk, considering project risks and opportunities when integrating into cost and planning processes, undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis of risk and leading risk reviews.
Estimating – Developing an understanding of the estimation process, preparing estimating frameworks and using this information to estimate project needs and requirements, as well as using an evidence based approach to estimating for estimate assurance, cost and risk analysis, uncertainties and contingencies.
Planning and Scheduling – Developing an understanding of planning and scheduling techniques, preparing and scheduling frameworks to enable recommendations on milestones and engineering schedules to be made, as well as using an evidence based approach to create credible, achievable control schedules, including assurance, risk analysis, assumptions and probabilities.
Data Modelling and Forecasting – Developing an understanding of both modelling and statistical analysis techniques in order to identify variations from the baseline, whilst assessing their impacts on the project and making informed recommendations to the influence the project.
Communications and Stakeholders skills – Communicate improvements to project delivery by challenging key stakeholders.Training:
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.

You’ll be trained to lead your own technical projects and work with expert mentors to develop the skills you need to thrive. Your role will see you selecting the optimal NDT method and conducting tests on parts – so be ready for practical experiments, project planning, resource control, problem-solving and gaining technical know-how. You’ll also learn how we use NDT in research and development along with the state-of-the-art technologies that enable us to rapidly detect defects, increase our throughput and reduce costs.
You’ll complete a variety of placements across our business, which will give you practical experience in various NDT methods. You can also expect to spend some time in our offices, solving technical issues and running projects to help our internal customers. Throughout, you’ll study for a BEng (Hons) NDT Degree at the University of Northampton. These studies will help you get to grips with the Maths, Electronics and Physics behind the methods you’re using. Some modules will be delivered residentially at Northampton University while others will be delivered via distance learning. Training:Non-Destructive Testing is used across a wide variety of sectors and relies heavily on physics and maths. Your apprenticeship will give you exposure across our business as you learn how to use NDT to find surface and internal defects in a variety of materials.
Across four years, you’ll spend time building your practical and theoretical knowledge of X-rays (radiography), ultrasonics, eddy currents, magnetic particle inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection, undertaking training courses in these five main NDT methods. As an apprentice, you will assist in developing packaging concepts, creating prototypes, and collaborating with various teams, from concept to production, ensuring functionality, cost-efficiency and sustainability.
Assist in the design and development of corrugated packaging solutions for a variety of products.
Work with the design team to create prototypes and samples.
Produce physical samples of corrugated cardboard boxes and packaging designs based on blueprints, specifications, and customer requirements.
Operate a digital CNC Cutter to create accurate samples.
Inspect all samples for accuracy, durability, and compliance with client specifications.
Test sample functionality, including strength, weight-bearing capacity, and structural integrity.
Ensure the final samples meet design and functional criteria, including dimensions, strength, and aesthetics.
Maintain detailed records of sample specifications, adjustments, and customer feedback.
Ensure proper storage, tracking and dispatch of physical samples for future reference.
Manage the sample board stock levels.
Ensure machine operators have appropriate drawing files for each job.
Reviewing and signing off on design drawings, verifying accuracy, functionality, and compliance with project requirements.

JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Construction Manager-HVAC manages all projects (including GC and Self-Perform HVAC AHU Restorations, etc.). This will involve working with the superintendent or technicians assigned to the project to ensure delivery on time and within budget and selecting and managing all subcontractors. Additional duties will include participating in all proposals, specifications, price estimates, schedules, and sales efforts as they affect the projects. Also, responsibilities will include Sales and Service Support, Field Resources, and Customer Management communication as necessary. Abide by all Company policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for contributing to, validating, and signing off on all proposals and specifications: Conceptual Phase (estimates & schedules) Program Planning Phase Design Phase Conduct Prebid Construction Phase Conduct Pre-con Effective Close-out Cost Estimates and schedules Use of eBuilder for all project documentation per policy manual Accountable for project cost/budget variance & profitability Accountable for Quality Assurance Understand the subcontractor agreement and corrective measures of notification to the subcontractor per the executed agreement Proper letter notification to non-compliant subcontractor agreement articles, i.e., no waivers of lien for lower tier subs, missing submittals, etc. Sets project timelines and goals Manages critical metrics and reports regularly or as required Coordinates work with Program Managers, Sales & Service Support, Customer Management (WTI and Tremco Roofing), and Resource Management Participate in the Preventive and Corrective Action process with responsibility and authority to: Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to service, process, and quality. EXPERIENCE:
HVAC/Mechanical Contracting Experience mandatory
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Mechanical Contracting License or the ability to get it is a plus.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook). Experience with Salesforce and eBuilder preferred. Ability to direct a project from concept to closeout. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and the building owner. Traveling up to 50%, including overnight stays. The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $79,000 and $100,000.
