Advanced Manufacturing Technicians are responsible for the overhaul and manufacture of components and assemblies found within our complex radar and underwater military products.
Manufacturing Technicians will typically have mechanical, electrical, electronic, control systems, bias and operate across multiple disciplines depending on the type of project being undertaken. To produce or re-furbish the components found in our underwater military products, Manufacturing Technicians will interpret drawings/specifications to plan their work, for example, ensuring they have the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task to the required specification.
Manufacturing Technicians are required to check their work against quality standards and make adjustments as required based on their knowledge.
During this four-year apprenticeship, the Advanced Manufacturing Apprentice will develop a detailed understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques, to include but not limited to electrical wiring, mechanical fitting, Printed Circuit Board rework and Microelectronics processing. Administrative Support:
Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the DA team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes to ensure effective communication and follow-up on action items
Maintain organised records of all delegated authority agreements, retrocession contracts, and renewal documents, ensuring easy access for team members
Tracking Renewals:
Monitor and track the renewal timelines for delegated authority agreements and reinsurance contracts, ensuring all deadlines are met
Assist in the preparation of renewal documentation, including data collection and preliminary analysis to support the DA Analyst and Senior DA Analyst in their presentations
Onboarding Support:
Facilitate the onboarding process for new binders and delegated authority agreements by coordinating with relevant stakeholders and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed
Maintain a checklist of onboarding requirements and follow up with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks
Data Management:
Collect and input data from various sources, such as underwriting teams and claims departments, into tracking systems or databases to ensure accurate reporting and analysis
Assist in the preparation of performance reports by compiling data and generating preliminary insights for review by senior team members
Compliance Assistance:
Support the team in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies by maintaining up-to-date records and documentation
Assist in the preparation of compliance reports and audits, ensuring all necessary information is readily available
Communication and Coordination:
Act as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding administrative queries and renewal processes, ensuring effective communication and timely responses
Coordinate with brokers and other partners to gather necessary information for renewals and onboarding, fostering strong working relationships
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements within the administrative and tracking functions, suggesting enhancements to streamline workflows and increase efficiency
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to delegated authority and reinsurance, contributing to team discussions and knowledge sharing
Support Team Development:
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing team performance and achieving strategic goals

The successful candidate will complete a Level 3 Financial Services Administrator Qualification

You’ll be trained to lead your own technical projects and work with expert mentors to develop the skills you need to thrive. Your role will see you selecting the optimal NDT method and conducting tests on parts – so be ready for practical experiments, project planning, resource control, problem-solving and gaining technical know-how. You’ll also learn how we use NDT in research and development along with the state-of-the-art technologies that enable us to rapidly detect defects, increase our throughput and reduce costs.
You’ll complete a variety of placements across our business, which will give you practical experience in various NDT methods. You can also expect to spend some time in our offices, solving technical issues and running projects to help our internal customers. Throughout, you’ll study for a BEng (Hons) NDT Degree at the University of Northampton. These studies will help you get to grips with the Maths, Electronics and Physics behind the methods you’re using. Some modules will be delivered residentially at Northampton University while others will be delivered via distance learning. Training:Non-Destructive Testing is used across a wide variety of sectors and relies heavily on physics and maths. Your apprenticeship will give you exposure across our business as you learn how to use NDT to find surface and internal defects in a variety of materials.
Across four years, you’ll spend time building your practical and theoretical knowledge of X-rays (radiography), ultrasonics, eddy currents, magnetic particle inspection and fluorescent penetrant inspection, undertaking training courses in these five main NDT methods.
