We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Finance Analyst to work on site at their offices in Yeovil.
Reporting to the Yeovil ISC Finance Lead, the Yeovil ISC Finance Analyst will assist in the
development of a strategic business partnership with the Yeovil ISC Site Leadership Team.
This role will work with the Yeovil ISC Finance Lead to improve product margins through
constant review and analysis of potential cost reduction initiatives covering both the
manufacturing and procurement environment.
The role will work with the ISC Finance Lead to achieve alignment across site functions including Integrated Supply Chain, Engineering, HR and the business in the achievement of targets and goals. It will provide data and analyses that will assist in the drive to reduce site inventory and working capital improvements, by working with SIOP, Logistics and Procurement.
The role will support the implementation of a real time data dashboard at the Yeovil site,
covering key ISC metrics.
Responsibilities will include:-
To work with the Yeovil Site ISC Leadership Team to ensure that annual operating plans
and forecasts are robust and fully aligned with Site SIOP process and understood by the
local ISC Team.
To investigate and present P&L variances to monthly financial results as provided by the
supporting Regional Finance Team (RFC).
Provide value-added support to the site HOS process, including delegated attendance at
all daily Tier 3 meetings as required.
To assist in the annual standard cost revision exercise, inventory-re-valuation and
standard maintenance.
To review and interpret analyses of overhead burden, production settlement, purchase
price and scrap variances as prepared by the supporting Regional Finance Team
(RFC).
To provide relevant information necessary to support the site SIOP process.
To present functional cost information as prepared by the supporting Regional Finance
Team (RFC).
To implement an operating system that ties and links this information with Yeovil
ISC business routines including the site cost council.
To work with the Yeovil ISC Finance Lead to establish an efficient and robust working
operating system with the relevant Regional Finance Team (RFC).
The successful Applicant should have/be able to:-

As a Support Engineer Apprentice you would be looking at everything that is involved in this, from identifying what maintenance could be required, to the tools and spares needed to carry out the maintenance and understanding the reliability and availability of the equipment on-board.

Years 1 and 2:
During your first year you will spend time at college completing a Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, the foundation qualification of your apprenticeship.
Upon completion, you will return to Leonardo to start your rotational placements within some of the following departments:

Advanced Manufacturing Technicians are responsible for the overhaul and manufacture of components and assemblies found within our complex radar and underwater military products.
Manufacturing Technicians will typically have mechanical, electrical, electronic, control systems, bias and operate across multiple disciplines depending on the type of project being undertaken. To produce or re-furbish the components found in our underwater military products, Manufacturing Technicians will interpret drawings/specifications to plan their work, for example, ensuring they have the right tools, equipment and resources to complete the task to the required specification.
Manufacturing Technicians are required to check their work against quality standards and make adjustments as required based on their knowledge.
During this four-year apprenticeship, the Advanced Manufacturing Apprentice will develop a detailed understanding of manufacturing and assembly techniques, to include but not limited to electrical wiring, mechanical fitting, Printed Circuit Board rework and Microelectronics processing. Upon successful completion of the Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeship, the apprentice will be able to perform complex assembly/disassembly or modification tasks to industry standards such as IPC and ANSI-J on electronic or mechanical components, subassemblies and systems – encompassing new build, repairs, and prototype products.

Join our exciting 3.5-year Higher Level Engineering Apprenticeship programme, where you'll specialise in one of three distinct trades: Mechanical, Electrical, or Naval Architecture.
No matter the trade route you take, you'll be gathering, analysing and interpreting information and data to make impactful decisions and solve real-world problems.
You’ll be responsible for creating or updating technical documentation, reports, or specifications that include information on quality, reliability, production schedules, costing, and more. This could include setting out how a product must be designed, manufactured, tested, modified, maintained, stored, transported, commissioned, or decommissioned.
Along the way, you’ll gain skills that will set you up for the future which may include:
Data analysis and interpretation – Extracting, analysing, and interpreting engineering and manufacturing data to draw accurate conclusions and make informed decisions. Project Management - Utilising project management tools for effective decision-making and risk assessment.Problem-solving - Applying problem-solving techniques such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Process Failure Modes Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and more, to identify root causes and enhance quality.Lean tools and techniques - Utilising lean tools and techniques such as Six Sigma and 8 Wastes to drive efficiency and minimise waste.Computer-based software system/packages – Utilising Computer Aided Design (CAD), Data Analytics, and Databases.Documentation control - Ensuring compliance with quality standards through proper documentation and processes. Financial planning – Undertaking financial planning, recording, and review processes and documentation such as departmental budgets, estimating, cost control and cost forecasting. Communication and stakeholder management - Communicating findings through various media, including presentations and reports.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you'll have the chance to work at various locations on our site, gaining valuable insights into all our operations.
It's a dynamic work environment, where every day brings new opportunities. From conducting external supplier inspections to driving efficiencies on our production shop floor, or even overseeing internal and external audits – your day will be filled with meaningful contributions.
Training:In the first year, you'll spend your time at college, followed by one day per week in the second and third years, with the remaining four days onsite. The fourth year will be dedicated to onsite training.
During your apprenticeship, you'll have the opportunity to earn a HNC in Engineering. After successfully completing the apprenticeship End Point Assessment, you'll receive a nationally recognised certificate as a Level 4 Engineering Maintenance Technician.Training Outcome:

As an LGV Driver Apprentice at Devonport Royal Dockyard, you will play a key role in this mission, learning how to safely deliver loads on time and provide reliable passenger transport services for both Babcock and our Royal Navy customers. Whether moving critical supplies or transporting people, your role will be vital in keeping operations running smoothly.
Safety is at the core of our logistics operations. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn how to maintain the integrity of your load and vehicle by performing essential vehicle checks, applying safe load restraint procedures, and practicing fuel-efficient driving. You will also gain a thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, the highway code, traffic legislation, and working time directive laws.
As an LGV Driver, you will interact with a wide range of people daily, including transport planners, transport managers, fellow drivers, and customers. You will master the art of providing excellent customer service, using effective communication techniques and problem-solving skills to ensure a high-quality service, even when challenges arise.
Training:
You will train to achieve the Level 2 LGV Driver apprenticeship standard.
Your training will be divided between in-person sessions at our training provider’s premises in Marsh Barton, Exeter, and onsite at Devonport Royal Dockyard (travel costs to Exeter will be covered by Babcock).
After the initial 13-month training period, you will enter the End Point Assessment (EPA) phase for the final three months of the programme. This phase will include a practical driving assessment, a multiple-choice test, and an interview to demonstrate your skills and competence.
As part of your training, you will obtain both the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC) and the Category C+E licence, which are legal requirements for driving LGVs professionally.
Training Outcome:
By the end of your apprenticeship, you will be ready to take on the role of Transport Operative within our Transport Department at Devonport Royal Dockyard, with a competitive salary of £30,000.
As you progress, you will have the opportunity to further develop your skills and potentially advance to a Senior Transport Operative role. Additionally, you may have the option to obtain your Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence, expanding your career opportunities across various roles and functions.

Structural - As a Structural engineer you will play a critical role in ensuring the vessel integrity at all limits as well as making sure that the vessel can safely accommodate its crew, cargo and armament and arrive home safely. This involves various key responsibilities such as conducting linear and non-linear finite element analysis to evaluate the structural integrity of the submarines, assessing hydrostatic collapse strength, and designing secondary structures.
Mechanical - In the Mechanical domain you will be part of one of the largest teams of mechanical discipline engineers, which also covers propulsion system, with a variety of areas to get involved in. They cover mechanical systems across the entire product life-cycle.
Research & Technology - In the Technology Management team you would be part of a team of multi-disciplined personnel, responsible for authoring the Submarines Technology Strategy, developing technology roadmaps and planning to realise that strategy, and managing the portfolio management of the R&D projects that deliver those roadmaps.
Materials - In the Materials Technology Team you would become part of a dedicated group of expert metallurgists, welding engineers, and non-metallic material specialists with extensive qualifications and experience. Operating within the materials technology centre, this team establishes material strategies and policies that govern all submarine-related activities while addressing materials challenges across various programs and related business sectors.
Systems - Submarines are intricate systems, posing significant challenges in their design, construction, testing, maintenance, and support. PMS C&I / AVC / SIF / ICPDS - The field of Electrical Engineering encompasses two distinct areas: Internal Communications and Platform Data Systems (ICPDS) and Control and Instrumentation (C&I).
