Primary Responsibilities:
Performs job duties and/or tasks assigned by Supervision. Job duties particularly include the areas of shipping/receiving, inventory warehouse, grinding, and reactor operation in a manner in which all procedures, rules, and regulations are strictly followed. Tasks include any needed work effort that appropriately enhances the Twinsburg Facility. Capable of training other Plant Operators in the areas of shipping/receiving, grinding, and reactor operations dependent upon individual experience and proficiency in area of concern. Communicates problems to Supervisors or Plant Manager in a timely and accurate manner. Exhibits team attitude in all aspects of job performance including such things as working with R&D, Quality Control, Maintenance and other Manufacturing personnel to minimize the generation of substandard product as well as the successful introduction of new products into the Facility processes. Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent necessary. Must have good communication skills with a cooperative and discipline attitude to assure appropriate work ethic. Requires the ability to lift 60 lbs. Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.

Some of your key duties will include:
Media preparation, be involved in equipment calibration daily, general laboratory house keeping
Sample preparation
Environmental Swabbing
Ensure compliance to the Mondelez GLP standard
Basic maintenance of laboratory equipment

Carry out routine microbiological analysis of raw materials, WIP, and finished product to the agreed specifications and sampling rates

Training:Through the training provider, CSR Scientific Training, you will undertake a Level 3 Laboratory Technician Apprenticeship which will include:
Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Laboratory Technician
On-the-job competency training
Theoretical knowledge - BTEC Level 3 Applied Science (if required)
The majority of your learning will be completed online once a week with some face-to-face practical sessions/exams in Sutton Coldfield/Birmingham City Centre. Travel expenses will be covered for these sessions.
Upon successful completion, apprentices can apply for professional registration as a Registered Science Technician, RSciTech, with either the Royal Society of Chemistry or Royal Society of Biology. Training Outcome:

You will learn the ins and outs of the operations of a family-owned craft brewery, helping in all areas of beer production. You will need to be physically able to cope with the manual labour as some tasks are physically demanding. The variation of tasks will increase as time goes on and the skill level of the apprentice increases.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to:
Cask Washing.
Cask Filling and Tracking.
Forklift Driving.
Fermentation and Cellar Checks.
Raw Materials Handling.
Bottle and Can Filling.
General Site Cleaning.
Current shift pattern is 6am-2pm Monday to Friday.
Training:From design of beer recipes to brewery promotion, apprentices on this unique brewer apprenticeship will gain in-work experience and cover a broad spectrum of activities, from understanding ingredient provenance and the importance of stock control to safe operation of brewing equipment. The innovative curriculum explores new techniques in brewing and efficiency models which, when brought back into the brewery, impact on improved business performance and secure future growth in your business. Training will be held in 2-day blocks at Nottingham University, there are a total of 6 blocks over the 18-month apprenticeship. Accommodation and transport will be provided for these block courses. In house training will be provided in an ongoing basis from both the Head Brewer and the Operations Manager with time allowed within the working week for any course related material. All in house training will be conducted at our Great Yarmouth brewery or very occasionally at other local sites or venues where it is beneficial to the apprentice to gain experience outside of the brewery site. To complete the apprenticeship the apprentice must pass level 2 English and maths (or have the appropriate exemption certificate) before undertaking their end point assessment. Upon completion of this apprenticeship the apprentice will have gained a Level 4 Brewer Qualification. It is expected that upon completion of training the trainee will move into a Senior Brewer role. Training Outcome:It is expected that upon completion of training the candidate will move into a Brewer role provided the apprentice and employer are satisfied. The applicant will fit into our existing career progression plan at Lacons and there will be good opportunity for further development within our growing team. The endpoint assessment is independent from the training and includes a variety of assessment methods which test the skills and knowledge of the apprentice to ensure they are fully competent in their role.
