The Apprentice Engineer will be responsible for developing skills in the maintenance, and optimisation of systems that combine mechanical and electrical engineering. Through hands-on training and mentorship, the apprentice will learn to support the:

of automated systems, robotics, and/or machinery while ensuring operational efficiency and safety.
The Apprentice Engineer will be expected to work towards and complete the apprenticeship program with a focus on self-development, progression, and ownership. At the end of the program, they should aim to be a competent maintenance engineer and be able to work well as a key part of a shift team or alone on a multitude of equipment with minimal extra support.Training:This apprenticeship includes spending 30 weeks in Birmingham in Year 1, on a residential basis, where the travel to Birmingham, accommodation on a half board basis (including breakfast and evening meal) and travel to and from the training facility is paid for by Forterra.In years 2 and 3, you will attend Make UK on block release, 1 week in every 5, again staying in the hotel and paid for by Forterra.Training Outcome:

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Clearing, weeding, blowing, mowing, strimming, edging, tidying, mixing, digging, rotavating, planting, mulching, paving and other related tasks.
Following instruction from your line manager, team leader/foreman and garden designer.
Paying special attention to the working environment, keeping site tidy, supplies stored correctly and ensuring site is kept safe – no spills, obstacles, trip hazards etc.
Dealing promptly with issues arising and escalating them immediately to your line manager.
To comply with Health and Safety legislation.
