Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver / Yard Person to join a well-established commercial vehicle dealership with multiple depots across the UK.

The Role HGV Class 1 Driver / Yard Person Key responsibilities will include:
- Organising and controlling vehicle movements within the yard
- Presenting vehicles for MOT
- Collection and delivery of trailers
- Cleaning and preparing vehicles
- Maintaining general workshop and yard housekeeping
- Assisting with other ad hoc yard and depot duties
HGV Class 1 Driver / Yard Person Requirements
- Previous experience working as an HGV Driver/ Yard Person
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence essential
- Ideally hold a relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- Must have own tools
- Reliable, organised, and able to work both independently and as part of a team

JOB TITLE - Yard operative / Driver
JOB LOCATION - BCA Thurleigh, BCA Fleet Solutions, Thurleigh Business Park, MK44 2YP
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: To carry out basic vehicle movement, handling, and storage operations in accordance with site and customer requirements.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carrying out basic vehicle movement and handling
Using HHD scanners to scan, locate and direct all vehicle movements (initial training will be provided)
Carrying out basic vehicle checks as required and report findings to line manager
Ensuring all vehicles are parked as per relevant customer standards
Responsibility for your own safety and of those who work around you
Maintain a safe driving standard and adhere to site speed limits
Checking all vehicles for damage before moving and reporting any damage found to line manager
Carrying out other yard operation duties as requested by the yard chain of command
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
· Excellent communication skills
· Ability to work well as part of a team and independently
· Must be comfortable driving manual and automatic vehicles
· Ability to work under pressure
· Full valid drivers licence
· 2 years' experience in a similar role (driving)
Those with First Aid and/or Fire Marshall Certification and experience will be looked upon favourably, but this is essential for the role

As the apprentice, your day will include:
All daily general yard duties which should be completed to a high standard with a fast-moving can-do attitude
Previous experience working on a yard is required

Responsibilities and Duties:
Assisting in processing sales and serve customers
Cash Handling, operating a till
Dealing with customers both face to face and over the telephone
Giving excellent customer service and sound product advice
Taking a proactive approach to building material sales, using every opportunity to make or increase a sale
Must be able to grasp the EPOS system to ensure the correct building products are processed on the system
Advise customers of products and general understanding of building products
Liaise with customers both over the phone and in person, taking orders, resolving issues, and offering product advice
Must have some IT knowledge of using computer systems
Restock products, maintain stock levels and carry out stock checks for audits
Using the EPOS system to process deliveries
Liaise with Yard Staff daily
Qualifications and Skills:
Highly organised
Confident and poses excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with internal and external suppliers and clients making sure stock is out and returned on time
Excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to communicate at all levels
Ability to prioritise and organise your own workload
Excellent attention to detail and timelines
Excellent Microsoft and Excel skills
Working to tight deadlines
Training:Training will be in house with a visiting apprenticeship coach.
