Engineering Machining Apprentice

Train to become a skilled machinist, manufacturing complex, precision parts and components from specialist materials using both manual, semi-automatic and CNC machine tools. according to the instructed methods. Learn to set, operate and adjust/edit equipment settings. Use a range of hand tools, power tools and measuring devices in the correct and safe way. Be trained in the use of different methods of measuring accuracy and tolerances, using gauges and micrometres. Training:Apprentices will undertake a Machining Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard programme. This will include a full-time period of practical workshop-based ‘off-the-job’ training at the SETA’s Apprenticeship Centre in Southampton. You will also begin a technical certificate (depending on your prior attainments), where you will be required to attend SETA one day a week over two academic years.
