As a proactive Surveyor the post holder will support the Team Leader and deliver the operational duties of their service/business area. Main Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
To provide an effective minor through to extensive works maintenance surveying service to all (void and occupied) properties, to assess condition and identify building defects, to diagnose and specify appropriate remedies.
To provide technical advice and support to all services.
To implement quality, financial, and budgetary control systems in accordance with service requirements and performance targets.
To assist with insurance claims requiring technical input, specifying, and implementing works as necessary.

Work well within a team.
Knowledge of the JCT forms of contract.
You will also need a minimum of a degree in Building Surveying and/or an HNC/HND. You will be a Full Member of RICS, or you will be actively seeking to become RICS accredited.

Manage and lead a team to negotiate with tenants and their representatives’ access arrangements, to carry out appropriate inspections and produce detailed specifications of work itemised from the schedule of rates or using composite values. To undertake the lead role for Property Services in the defence and management of legal claims to minimise costs and reputational impact. Carry out root cause analysis of claims to identify any problems to be addressed and any opportunities for reducing the incidence of legal disrepair.
Liaise with legal colleagues on individual cases as necessary and on more general issues such as legal procedures and interpretation of legislation. Available to attend Court to give evidence and represent the council.
Maintain a comprehensive database of all property related legal claims. Ensure that all deadlines are recorded on the database and monitor progress to ensure actions are completed within the deadlines.
