Role Overview
We are currently looking for an Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a leading construction company based in the Suffolk area.
As the Estimator / Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimations, commercial oversight, and supporting project execution for cleanroom fit-out projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Prepare detailed cost estimates for cleanroom installation projects across varying sizes and complexities.
2. Oversee project budgets from inception through to completion, ensuring cost control and value engineering.
3. Review technical drawings, specifications, and subcontractor quotations to assess project scope and costs.
4. Collaborate with design, operations, and procurement teams to align financial forecasts with delivery timelines.
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Estimator / Quantity Surveyor, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
2. Proven industry experience in a quantity surveying or estimating role, ideally within fit-out, construction, or technical installation sectors.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Excel and cost estimation software.

The Role - Surveyor:

Working within the Property Assets team and reporting to the Quantity Surveyor, the Quantity Surveyor Apprentice will assist the team in delivering the planned works programme, responsive repairs and projects to both housing and corporate building stock.
This will include but will not be limited to:
Undertake the Chartered Surveyor Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying on a day release basis
Support the team in the preparation of formal contract documentation to be included in tender packages for various projects throughout Property Assets
With supervision carry out property surveys, attention meetings and prepare drawings, surveys and contract details in connection with the preparation of tender documentation for the Council’s diverse property portfolio
The role will work on both pre and post contract duties
Assist in the day to day running of the departments contract administration, tenant consultation and correspondence
Attend project/site meetings and take minutes
Prepare asset valuations, with guidance, including depreciation calculations to determine insurance re-instatement values of Council owned properties across the district

Training Outcome:

Most large organisations have formal channels of promotion for surveyors who take on increased technical and managerial responsibility
With experience, you may progress to full project management, taking responsibility for the planning, control and coordination of projects from inception to completion. Success in these roles can bring the opportunity to be a departmental head or manager in the public sector and, in private practice, a director or partner
You may choose to specialise and become an expert in one particular area, such as building defects or sustainability, or in a specific sector such as residential or retail. Another option, once you're chartered, is to set up your own private practice

Main responsibilities will include:
Assist in planning and preparing a geospatial land survey project starting with the client’s specification
Complete all site risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for the site
Set up and operate the latest survey technology under the guidance of a surveyor
Assist the surveyor on site, collecting land and underground detection data
Load information onto Powers’ project management system
Process surveys on the computer under the guidance of a surveyor using n4ce and AutoCAD software to create technical drawings (second year of apprenticeship)
Undertake setting out under the guidance of a surveyor on site
Maintain and clean all pieces of equipment and vehicles before and on return from site
Ensure that all quality control procedures are carried out on site and in the development of a survey
Follow procedures in accordance with Powers’ ISO certification, learning about the importance of health & safety, quality and accuracy within the business as well as the environmental impacts of the company
Training:Geospatial Survey Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
The apprentice will need to attend college on three blocks of two weeks per academic year at our Cronton Campus ( WA8 5WA)
This will be 2 weeks in autumn term, 2 weeks in spring term and 2 weeks in summer term
Training Outcome:
There will be support to achieve further qualifications and support to achieve professional accreditation to specilise in survey service

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ecologist / EcologyConsultant with 2 years' experience to join a well-established environmental consultancy. This full-time role offers hybrid working options, salary range of £32,000 - £40,000 and benefits.
As an Ecologist / EcologyConsultant, you will be supporting a range of ecological projects, contributing to habitat and species assessments while ensuring best practice and regulatory compliance.
You will be responsible for:
* Supporting the execution of ecological surveys and mitigation planning.
* Producing clear, accurate ecological reports such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) and contributions to Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA).
* Assisting with project delivery in collaboration with senior ecologists and other technical staff.
* Offering ecological guidance to clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
* Helping to build and maintain positive relationships with clients through professionalism and technical credibility.
What we are looking for:
* Previously worked as an Ecologist, Senior Ecologist, Ecological Consultant, Ecological Surveyor or in a similar role.
* At least 2 years' professional experience in ecological consultancy.
* Possess degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
* Skilled in protected species and habitat surveys, with strong field skills.
* Hold membership of CIEEM or working towards it.
* Excellent technical report writing skills, following CIEEM guidelines.
* Bat and/or GCN Natural England licences would be preferred.
* Valid UK driving licence.
