Main Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
To provide an effective minor through to extensive works maintenance surveying service to all (void and occupied) properties, to assess condition and identify building defects, to diagnose and specify appropriate remedies.
To provide technical advice and support to all services.
To implement quality, financial, and budgetary control systems in accordance with service requirements and performance targets.
To assist with insurance claims requiring technical input, specifying, and implementing works as necessary.
To set up and administer planned/cyclical maintenance programmes within specified areas.
To carry out pre and post inspections as necessary to ensure specified works are undertaken to contract standards.
To support the objectives of the HRS Trade Supervisors in delivery of the service.
To prepare schedules of repairs, specifications and technical drawings and issue or supervise works to general repairs, voids, disabled adaptations or specialist works.
To support disrepair claims including issuing or supervising, specifying and implementing agreed schedules of works in order to minimise the loss to the organisation.
To carry out the project management of minor works schemes and Estate Improvement projects.
To liaise with client representatives, statutory authorities, Tenants, Housing Management etc on queries concerning works undertaken or planned, ensuring a positive image of Homes for Haringey is presented at all times.
To ensure that work is undertaken in a manner commensurate with all statutory requirements and with regard to current legislation e.g. H&S, CDM, Party Wall Act, Disrepair and Insurance etc.
To use any technology and communication systems necessary to achieve the objectives of the post and service.
To provide verbal and written replies to tenants, leaseholders, Members, MP’s in accordance with corporate guidelines in respect of standards and response times.
Take responsibility for the health and safety activities applicable to the post as set out in the Homes for Haringey policy statements.
Manage complaints effectively and seek to resolve issues quickly. Ensure that defects which could give rise to claims of disrepair are resolved and fully documented.
To ensure the Homes for Haringey’s policies, procedures and statutory requirements are adhered to within the course of the duties of the post.
Requirements
Part 1 RICS/CIOB or equivalent in relevant course of study or equivalent experience
HNC/HND or equivalent in building surveying or a closely related discipline
Full UK Driving License (Manual)
Graduate in Building Surveying or similar technical discipline in the built environment
IOSH Managing Safely
NEBOSH / ROSPA construction Health & Safety
Experience of managing repair and maintenance services in residential buildings, including the specification of works and diagnosis of building defects Financial and quality control
Experience and proven capability of making complex technical/professional decisions, in particular the specification of remedial works
Experience of project managing building works
Experience of managing and administering contracts for repair and maintenance

The role
Fugro are now seeking an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Consulting Specialist to join the Europe and Africa Geoconsulting team based in either Wallingford, Oxfordshire, Louvaine-la-Neuve, Belgium or Nootdorp, Netherlands. Reporting to the Department Head for Geophysics Geoconsulting, your responsibilities will be two-fold; to coordinate regional screening studies as to the UXO risk levels for offshore wind installations, advising on UXO risk mitigation measures and secondly to define optimal technical solution in terms of UXO survey for marine sites, where UXO is identified as a risk, this will include working with many internal stakeholders and external clients to agree the best technical campaigns.

A degree or MSc in History, Archaeology, Explosive Engineering, Earth Sciences or Geotechnical Engineering.
Previous experience as a UXO Consultant is essential.
Chartership or actively pursuing chartership through appropriate professional institutions to support ALARP assessment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the leadership of building control function, through provision of specialist technical advice to support the delivery of organisational priorities, and to ensure the Council is able to meet its legal obligations.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Provide guidance, specifications, drawings etc for a range of mechanical services maintenance work
Receive and assess planned preventative maintenance certification and associated reports
Agree appropriate bodies of repair and remedial works to keep the council’s buildings operational, safe and compliant
Work collaboratively with the contractor to agree costs and programmes
Commission specialist surveys where required
Carry out feasibility work, including budget estimates
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require must have a qualified to degree level or equivalent, in a related discipline and holds a professional membership of a building control related organisation.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
Be a registered Building Inspector to at least a Class 3 – Specialist level in accordance with the Building Inspector Competence Framework.
Detailed and extensive knowledge of the Building Control legislative framework and a comprehensive understanding of associated legislation and Council policy that it interfaces with.
Must have knowledge and experience acquired, whilst working in a Local Authority or Approved Inspector building control organisation, is suitable for the role.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £45 - £50 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.

A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Highways Engineer to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to support the leadership of building control function, through provision of specialist technical advice to support the delivery of organisational priorities, and to ensure the Council is able to meet its legal obligations.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Managing and maintaining highways (defect repairs), (gully cleansing and drainage improvement programmes), (winter maintenance including gritting) highway structures (bridges, culverts and retaining walls).
Responsibility for contracts relating to the above workstreams.
Managing contracts relating to the above workstreams.
Reporting on technical engineering, performance, quality and commercial checks and assessments.
Keeping asset management information up to date.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require must have highway engineering or highway design experience.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
Hold an undergraduate degree or MSc in a relevant transportation or engineering discipline
Or hold a HNC / HND in Engineering or relevant equivalent
Or be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineering with a relevant institution membership
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
