We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a well established engineer business in Portland, as a Mechanical Engineer you will carry out all aspects of engineering work on anything from marine vessels, forklifts, heavy engineering, industrial, offshore and more. You will be required to work on engines, equipment repair, hydraulics service, installation, warranty and maintenance work.
Duties and responsibilities of the Mechanical Engineer :
• Repairs, Servicing, Maintenance and Commissioning of marine engines, controls, HVAC & propulsion units
• Workshop and Field based work
• Carry out routine service and repair work on various vessels from pleasure to commercial craft
• Full workshop overhaul and repairs of marine engines to manufacturer’s standards
• Carry out new machinery and equipment installations
• Working on engines from 2hp – 12,000hp on varying engines
• Experience with engine control systems such as Comap, Deepsea etc
Qualifications and requirement for the Mechanical Engineer:
• This role would suit someone from either the Marine, Industrial, Commercial who has a qualification within Engineering.
• Must hold a Full UK Drivers Licence

Duties and responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer:
Service, maintain, repair, install, and overhaul heavy-duty gearboxes and driveline systems
Work on equipment used across marine, heavy plant, agriculture, and industrial mining sectors
Perform mechanical strip-downs, diagnostics, part changes, and complete rebuilds
Carry out alignments, dynamic testing, and inspections in line with OEM specifications
Travel across the UK for short-term field service and installation projects (approx. 5% of time)
Complete accurate reports, documentation, and quality control checks
Maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment
