Registered Nurse – Clinical Deputy Manager Nursing Home | West Yorkshire (Leeds/Bradford)£45,882.72 · 36 hours · Permanent
The last person to sit in this chair is about to be handed the keys to the home. She started as a nurse here, earned her stripes, and is now stepping up to Registered Manager. That tells you two things: this is a company that backs its own, and there's a Deputy's seat open for the right reason.
You'd be her clinical right hand in a small, close-knit nursing home caring for older people, mostly general nursing with some dementia. It's all on the ground floor, everyone knows every resident by name, and the day actually feels manageable.
Here's the honest bit, because you'd rather hear it now than in week three. This service has had a wobble and it's on an improvement journey. That's not a warning, it's the opportunity. There's a genuine chance to help steady the ship, put your fingerprints on the turnaround, and walk away with something on your CV that says "I made this better." And you won't be doing it alone. There's a hands-on regional team and senior leadership who are clearly invested in getting this one right.
What you'd actually be doing
Acting as clinical number two to a brand-new manager, sharing the clinical and leadership load
Owning care planning, medication management, and clinical standards on the floor
Coaching and mentoring the nursing and care team, and leading by example
Supporting audits, compliance and the improvement plan, plus a hand in budgeting and planning
Splitting your week between supernumerary management time and hands-on nursing shifts, with some weekend cover and on-call on the rota
What's in it for you
Private healthcare scheme and annual pay reviews that actually recognise your effort
Long-service and recognition awards
A promote-from-within culture, and the person you'd be supporting is living proof of it
A visible, winnable challenge with real backing behind you
The non-negotiables
A live NMC pin (RGN)
Previous Deputy Manager or Clinical Lead experience. This isn't a first step into management
Level 4 or Level 5 in Adult Social Care, held or a genuine willingness to work towards it
The appetite to walk into a service that needs steadying and treat it as a project worth owning
The right to work in the UK. Sponsorship isn't available for this role
If you've led in a good-rated home and fancy proving you can get another one there, or you're a seasoned manager happy to step back into a strong number-two role, this one's worth a conversation.
