JOB DESCRIPTION
The Continuous Improvement Leader will lead continuous improvement efforts at the manufacturing plant level. They will work with plant management and personnel to maintain and improve the MS168 Continuous Improvement program. They will also work with the manufacturing plants and various corporate functions to determine where the most significant areas of improvement exist. Complete Six Sigma projects and provide support for plant level Six Sigma Projects. In addition, they will organize and execute focused Improvement Teams (like Kaizen Events).
Responsibilities
Implement, develop, and sustain MS168 Continuous Improvement Program. (Including Conducting Semi-Annual Audits) Complete Six Sigma projects and provide support for plant level Six Sigma projects. Work with the manufacturing plants and various corporate functions to determine where the most significant areas of improvement exist and develop projects from those opportunities. Organize and execute and track progress of Focused Improvement Teams Provide a Supportive Project Management Office including MPST & Monthly Savings tracking and reporting. Provide Training of Lean Manufacturing Principals and Six Sigma Tools to Plant and Corporate Associates Track Company Key Performance Indicators and develop action plans for identified areas of opportunity.
Requirements
5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry. 50% of the role is on floor and 50% in office. Should be willing to work with hourly associates and staff directly. Should be willing to work on the floor, roll up their sleeves and be a part of the team. Engineering or Chemistry degree is preferred but not mandatory with good significant manufacturing experience, use of lean principles in daily work. Six Sigma Black Beltpreferred. Sealant, Adhesive, Coating or Paint industry experience preferred. Able to travel 50%. Technical Expertise: Strong root cause analysis skills. Experience with processes such as TapRooT, Kepner Tregoe or equivalent is preferable. Demonstrated use of analytical analysis: statistical process control, process capability analysis, correlation, ANOVA, DOE preferable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Preferable proficiency in ERP Systems (SAP, Business Objects, etc.) and Statistical Analysis Software (Minitab, etc.) Knowledge of and demonstrated use of Lean Manufacturing tools. Leadership Skills: Must be self-motivated. Ability to motivate others. Ability to endorse and practice teamwork. Project Management Skills Project management experience required. Must be organized and committed to meeting deadlines. Possesses the skill to lead multiple improvement projects at the same time. Communication Skills: Able to speak, listen, and write well. Effective presenter, facilitator, and trainer. Proficiency in creating effective reports.

Implement material cost saving plans where and when appropriate. Participate in annual budget planning. Assist in all compliance activities, especially HazCom and maintaining SDS system. Other projects/tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Quality, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials, Polymer, or Business is required.
EXPERIENCE:
4+ years of experience is required. Experience with chemical batch-making operations and quality programs, such as Lean, ISO, Six Sigma, is required.

Plan, facilitate, and execute continuous improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools, provide support for plant level initiatives, and participate in Kaizen events on the production floor in support of Tremco's MS168 philosophies. Provide support to the production staff to ensure that implemented lean principles are understood and implement change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of process improvements. Lead cross functional work teams focused on identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to provide sustainable improvements that meet/exceed expectations. Conduct semi-annual audits. Read, research, interpret, and analyze data on current processes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Leverage knowledge of tiered governance systems, Kaizen, 5S, visual management and SMED to assist sites in improving efficiencies by evaluating process and practice from various perspectives. Influence and motivate others to attend to, participate in and own local continuous improvement efforts and initiatives. Lead cross-functional improvement projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet predefined objectives. Develop, monitor, and communicate project plans, timelines, and budgets with key stakeholders. Provide supportive project management expertise including MPST and monthly savings tracking, key performance indicators, and reporting. Teach, lead, and coach cross-functional teams on Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Bachelor's /University degree, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment Preferred experience in chemical manufacturing and/or batch manufacturing operations. Previous experience utilizing Data, Statistical Analysis, Six Sigma, and/or Lean Methodologies Five years' experience in process optimization, operations, or business management. Assemble, install, or repair: wiring, piping, machinery, and equipment. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. Required Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent. 1-3 years of industrial experience. Experience with filling and packaging equipment. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures. Ability to do basic math and enter computer data. Ability to coordinate with the work of others and solve problems in a team environment. Active participation in our Continuous Improvement Process. Ability to lift 75 pounds. Responsible for ordering all Quality Department supplies and organizing the department work schedules. Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with 3+ years of experience in the related field. Polyurethane Foam, Paint, Coating, Adhesive and Sealant industry experience preferred. Knowledge and demonstrated application of industry standard Quality Management practices. Demonstrated application of Statistical Process Control and Process Capability Analysis. Understanding of analytical tools such as Gauge R&R Studies and Measurement Capability Studies. Experience with material testing and generally accepted laboratory practices. Very strong problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of the organization including manufacturing plants, technical and management personnel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. ASQ Six Sigma certifications are preferred.
