JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The National Training Manager - General Services will develop, lead, and implement training and developmental programs for all WTI field employees who support the General Services division including, but not limited to, interns, field technicians, lead field technicians, Foremen, Supervisors, Quality Control Specialists, General Field Operations Managers, and Regional Business Managers. Additionally, in full collaboration with the National Director, Training - General Contracting, develop and implement cross-training for all levels of the General Services division, as identified as future leaders. Lastly, in full collaboration with the Director (Sales Operations and Training), cross-train employees to ensure all levels of the WTI organization drive knowledge, consistency, career development, employee retention, and culture efforts. Reporting directly to the National Training Manager are the Quality Control Specialists and Contractor Support Specialists.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training: Collaborate with the Vice President WTI/WTC, WTI Divisional Directors, National Director of Training - General Contracting, WTI Regional Business Managers, as well as Tremco Roofing Divisional & Regional Sales Managers, in the development and execution of training strategies and programs to meet goals and objectives. Update and keep all job descriptions current for the General Services division from JSI Interns to Regional Business Manager. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the training department as it relates to the self-performing services division; ensure the team is informed and developing new training methods and techniques to deliver the best possible training programs. Collaborate holistically with both the General Contracting and the Tremco Roofing Sales training department. Continuously seek and support new approaches, practices, and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training services. Provide frequent reporting on training status, progress, and employee performance. Training Program for JSI Interns - Field Technicians: Establish onboarding process for JSI Interns and Field Technicians. Work alongside the RISE program team to establish a curriculum and in-field training for new and inexperienced employees. Benchmarks for progress must be met to transition into a Lead Field Technician, Foreman, Supervisor, and General Field Operations Manager position. Ensure roofing, building envelope, inspection criteria, and HVAC restoration skills are learned by the technicians, if applicable and as needed per skillset and geography. Work with the operations team to provide instruction on PowerApps, iAuditor, FSM, etc. Develop hands-on training both in-market and at Corporate, to be completed on an annualized basis. Refine, update, and work alongside the RISE team to ensure criteria for journeyman status are accurate, achievable, and can be modified to include building envelope services (waterproofing, caulk, masonry, flashings, etc.) alongside roofing and HVAC restoration (duct cleaning, coil cleaning, steam cleaning, coatings, etc.) Establish and refine processes for timely and actionable performance feedback of trainees. Training Program for Lead Field Technicians: Evaluate the baseline skillset of employees taking on the Lead Field Technician position and define benchmarks and timelines for completion of the program. Ensure roofing, building envelope, inspection criteria, and HVAC restoration skills are learned by the technicians, if applicable and as needed per skillset and geography. Work with the operations team to provide instruction on PowerApps, iAuditor, FSM, etc. Continuing Education: Create, implement, and manage continuing education programs (internal and external). Design and deliver highly relevant, goal-oriented strategic training programs to improve the competency level of the entire organization. Ensure that all departments - Legal, Administration, Licensing, Safety, Human Resources, etc. - have been introduced to Supervisors and Field Operations Managers, and that a summary of functions for each of these departments is issued to all new employees. Implement continuous training in each department for employees, as needed. Other Duties: Vision and Strategy - Execute the company's vision and strategy while building and developing teams, including talent acquisition. Values and Culture - Help continuously evolve and maintain the company's values and operating principles and implement various programs to ensure they permeate the organization from hiring, through performance management, to talent development and operational decisions. Help shape the strategy and execution of company-wide communications so that important information is shared in the Tremco-WTI voice and effectively cascaded consistently. Talent Acquisition and Retention - Maintain, improve, and scale processes to recruit and retain high-performing, diverse, and mission-oriented talent. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Establish sales strategy and supporting business plan that is focused on growth and profitability for assigned Region.
Develop a business plan that includes goals, objectives and strategies that ensure attainment of sales goals and margins to meet profit goals. Ensure business plan is aligned with the objectives and goals of the Division's strategic plan. Continually review and modify short and long-term plans as needed based on changing business/market conditions, staffing, etc. Coordinate action plans to penetrate new markets and existing territories Control discounting to maintain profitability. Be accessible and provide leadership and guidance to sales representatives in the development/growth of their business.
Conduct one-on-one reviews with sales representatives to gain an understanding of what training and development needs may exist and to provide feedback and coaching to each individual as to how to improve their sales activity and performance. Continually focus on ways to support sales reps with meeting their Compensation objectives (Comp 2.0, 3.0, etc.) throughout the region and ensure reps are utilizing Smart Sheet to track their activities, proposals, etc. and goals are clearly understood. Conduct regular contact days with sales representatives to ensure that they meet or exceed all activity standards for prospecting, appointments, demonstrations/presentations, proposals and closing. Provide assistance in the preparation of proposals and presentations or where needed. Conduct regular sales meetings that focus on Regional sales objectives and pertinent business information, goals, and strategies. Ensure Trainers are providing necessary guidance to their assigned Sales Associate on the basics of the business, such as how to spend time, set up home office, account selection, calling and selling techniques, establishing and maintaining relationships, (customer/contractor/internal) etc. Ensure that all new sales representatives attend all Company sponsored training sessions and are applying what they have learned. Understand obstacles facing sales representatives and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up to ensure that all issues are handled quickly and effectively. Encourage and support the regular use of the company-selected system for collecting sales data. Promote, support, and ensure that the Company's commitment to safety and sustainability is carried throughout the Region.
Through continual learning, stay abreast of industry changes and product knowledge. Have awareness of competition and trends that could impact the business and make planning adjustments as necessary.
Maintain organization of assigned Region including home office, equipment, sales aids, accounts, sales rep and customer information.
Conduct activities in accordance with all Company policies and procedures. Ensure direct reports do the same.
Active communication with Sales Force and DSM.
Stay in contact and report any information that is of value to the DSM (i.e., competitive pricing, products, trends, new concepts, referrals). Supports the DSM to ensure pull through of Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance Division's sales strategy and plans. Works with DSM to assess sales performance and market trends for Roofing market and to determine appropriate adjustments to meet or exceed objectives. Ensure that the Roofing Division's Policies are communicated and implemented. Provide timely feedback to management regarding the sales activity/performance of representatives and on sales forecasts and budgets. Provide end of month reports that clearly communicate results. Participate in any planning, update/status meetings at the request of the DSM.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one- or two-year's related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE
3+ years successful outside sales experience, preferably industrial sales. 5+ years experience in field sales management. GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
This role educates WTI personnel on proper product use and application, provides installation training on and off the roof, and oversees large self-performed projects from start to finish with intermittent inspections and post-completion inspections of smaller projects. The QCS will perform regular job site visits during the project and after project completion. The goal is to provide consistency across the country with proper roof repairs and application of our products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure proper execution and delivery of all WTI GS and GC self-performed roofing work. Provide a variety of technical and application training sessions in the field and in a shop setting. Provide hands-on application training and supervision of roof coatings and installation. Attend pre-con's on large projects. Be present at job start-ups to discuss the proper execution of the scope of work. Visit the projects at specific intervals to assess the completed work and provide any direction or corrective advice. Perform a pre-final inspection to ensure that the projects have a zero punch list. Perform final inspections when needed. Pre-project field inspections and technical support including but not limited to: Peel tests Product recommendations Proper product installations Post-project completion inspection to ensure quality workmanship and proper utilization and application of materials. Product diagnostic support to ensure that WTI is kept out of trouble in misuse of products for the situation. Perform roof inspections with written reports and photo documentation. Perform safety audits while on site to ensure all safety requirements are being met and consult with the safety team when necessary. Communicate professionally with our Technicians, Foremen, Supervisors, Field Operations Managers, Regional Business Managers, Corporate Staff, and the Sales Team. Complete daily reports, including DTAs, safety audits, truck audits, and QC inspection reports, as necessary and applicable. Complete weekly/monthly activity reports as requested. ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Working knowledge of commercial roofing systems, including built-up, modified, single-ply, and metal. Working knowledge of roof coating systems. Strong roofing or building science mechanical aptitude. Practical computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite and learning the necessary internal business systems). In-depth technical understanding and extensive hands-on knowledge of applications of products. Intimate knowledge of our product line. Oversee the Quality Control (QC) process in conjunction with the Quality Control Specialist (QCS) of all the Field Reps in the region, which will include random site visits to current and previous job sites and proper documentation to ensure that all work was completed properly and that the customer is fully satisfied. Ensure profitability within the region by monitoring and managing employee expenses for accuracy and abuse, use of overtime hours, and all full-time personnel's billable time to meet the required percentage. The Supervisor should stress the profitability factor to all field personnel. Field all questions and concerns from the Field Reps and handle all discrepancies between the Field Reps and the Sales Reps. Conduct and foster professional and timely communication (via email, text message, voicemail, or in person) with the customers, Sales Reps, field staff, and internal company personnel on all work-related matters. Be the primary contact for the office personnel if there are any issues concerning a Field Rep. Ensure all Field Reps will have a professional appearance and demeanor while completing services for a customer. Conduct and/or assist with the training (both hands-on field training and classroom setting) for the Field Reps, according to the WTI Training Policy, to include: Proper completion of all services and related paperwork. Safety training and training documentation for all Field Reps within the region. Approval and certification of each Field Rep, including, but not limited to, OSHA Hazard Awareness, Toolbox Talks, etc. Demonstrate a working knowledge of all services provided. Manage, monitor, and document the performance of Field Reps and take appropriate steps or corrective measures to resolve employee and work-related issues. Consult with the Regional Business Manager (RBM) and HR as needed. Work with the HR and Recruiting department to hire all new personnel. Ensure all required paperwork is submitted to the corporate office on a timely basis. Conduct new employee orientation for all new hires, including training on all company policies, administrative processes, procedures, and required technical and safety information. Handle all administrative matters and corresponding paperwork within the region, including, but not limited to, expense management, monthly sales projections, Field Tech time management, status reports, bidding jobs with Reps, large job sign-offs, project documentation, etc. Review time reports daily and make necessary corrections with the admin team. Attend all required calls and meetings. Perform any other duties and/or projects as required or assigned by the RBM.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 30-hour OSHA certification (The company will provide it if needed.) Registered Roof Observer (RRO) is preferred but not required. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Qualifications: Prior supervisory skills and ability to manage people and tasks. Prior roofing experience, including patch and repair skills. Knowledge of Project Management, planning, and scheduling. Knowledge and experience in monitoring and maintaining quality control. Functional computer skills. Safety training and OSHA knowledge. Understanding of budgeting and expense management.

Other Requirements: Ability to travel out of town, including overnight stays. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Ability to work weekends and/or holidays when needed. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
