As a Business Admin Apprentice at HMS Welding, you will work closely with the office and workshop teams to provide both administrative and technical support. Your key responsibilities will include:
Using CAD software to design drawings for customer projects
Preparing and issuing quotations for clients
Answering calls, dealing with customer enquiries, and directing queries
Supporting order processing and maintaining accurate records
Assisting with purchasing and stock control when required
Preparing documents, reports, and customer correspondence
Maintaining filing systems and archiving as required
Supporting the wider team with general admin and ad hoc duties
Building strong relationships with customers and colleagues
This is a varied role where you will gain skills in business administration, customer service, and CAD design within a supportive engineering environment.Training:

Observe daily maintenance of: Slicing machines, Packaging machines, Retail machines, including labellers, pneumatics, nitrogen equipment, air blasts, and steam cookers, Vacuum packing machines, vacuum pumps, and film over-wrapping machines.
Support the hygienic dismantling and supervised rebuild of machinery.
Learn the basics of maintaining and servicing temperature control equipment.
Training:The successful apprentice will attend Derwent Training in Malton one day per week for the 20% off-the-job training element of the apprenticeship.

Assist in Vehicle Wrap Installations:
Support lead technicians in applying vinyl wraps to cars, vans, trucks, and other vehicles
Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, or removing existing decals as necessary
Surface Preparation:
Ensure all vehicle surfaces are properly cleaned and prepped to allow for optimal vinyl adhesion
Mask and tape off areas not to be wrapped
Vinyl Cutting and Trimming:
Assist with measuring, cutting, and weeding vinyl materials using cutting tools or plotters
Trim excess vinyl around contours, edges, and tight corners with precision
Application of Graphics and Decals:
Help align and position graphics according to layout specifications
Use squeegees, heat guns, and other tools to remove air bubbles and wrinkles
Tool and Material Handling:
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tools, materials, and workstations
Monitor inventory levels and report low supplies to the supervisor
Learning and Development:
Actively participate in training sessions and seek guidance from experienced installers
Study industry best practices, safety procedures, and product information
Quality Control and Finishing:
Inspect finished work for accuracy, air bubbles, or peeling
Apply finishing touches such as edge sealing to prolong durability
Customer Interaction Support:

You will be responsible for:
Providing high quality, first and second line technical support for the IT service desk; recording all calls and activities within the service desk tool, within the SLA guidelines
Setting up user accounts, implementing password changes, and resolving work area problems (this includes detecting illegal access, lost passwords, bans)
Keeping records of all users, including the management of laptop loans
Handling printing problems – both hardware and software
Dealing with user account problems as and when they occur
Hardware – routine checking, fault-finding and rectifying, general maintenance
Stock control of consumables and hardware ordering, distribution and paperwork

To assist and train students and staff in the use of the Network when applicable
