Duties and responsibilities of the Design Engineer:
• Perform mechanical design of subsystems including hatch hinges, locks, jigs, and related components, ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions.

• Design and integrate routing for hydraulics, propulsion, water systems, and other mechanical subsystems within the marine platforms.

• Ensure the working environment is clean, safe, and compliant with health and safety policies and best practices.
• Confirm all equipment used is safe, within electrical test date, and equipped with appropriate guards and interlocks.
• Follow company health and safety procedures to ensure personal and colleague safety.
• Report any health and safety hazards or violations promptly to supervisors or the QHSE Manager.
• Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and workwear, reporting replacements as necessary.
Qualifications and requirements for the Design Engineer:
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
• Proficient use of Siemens NX CAD, with exposure to Teamcenter PLM and Simcenter Nastran highly desirable.
• Expertise in design for manufacture of composite and metallic parts, including fabricated or milled components.
• Strong knowledge of material selection principles.
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
• Experience designing platforms for small batch series production in marine, automotive, motorsport, or aerospace sectors.
• Marine design experience including mechanical design, naval architecture, structures, or marine engineering.

Provide a quick, efficient & cost-effective repair service to equipment breakdowns
Machine Maintenance & Repair:
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on injection moulding machines
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues
Ensure proper calibration and alignment of moulding equipment.
Replace or repair worn-out components to minimise breakdowns
Install new equipment as required
Completion of the annual Planned Maintenance Plan
Supervise contractors to carry out occasional work from time to time
Maintain accurate records of work carried out on all equipment
Carry out TPM routines for every production section
Carry out all refurbishment work as required
Utilise downtime periods to effectively overhaul equipment
Be able to fault find and repair on injection moulding machines & robots
Relocate and install equipment as required
Identify machinery/equipment not fit for purpose and propose cost-effective solutions to ensure activity can still be carried out
Assist in DC and other parts of the Business as detailed by the Maintenance and Facilities Manager
Ensure all work that is undertaken is completed safely and with relevant authorisation

Business Support:
Provide administrative support to Council officers, as and when required.
Open and stamp post, and frank and record outgoing post.
Compose standard letters/emails.
To assist with the filing and archiving of Council documents, as directed by senior officers, including handling the deletion of data in line with GDPR.
Order stationery and monitor stock levels.
Prepare cash floats, and process and input cash sheets.
Receive payments for hire of facilities and any other payments made at the office.
Assist with basic finance functions, such as the reconciliation of income
Monitor levels of forms and information leaflets, printing further copies as required.
Coordinate arrangements for and supervise work experience students and volunteers in the Council officers, completing all required documentation and reports.
Reception Desk / Customer Contact:
Cover the council office reception desk and telephone lines during opening hours (9am - 12pm / 1pm - 4.30pm (Mon-Thu) & 4pm (Fri)), being the first point of contact for visitors or telephone callers to the Council.
Manage the council’s Admin inbox, responding to enquiries / forwarding emails to relevant officers as necessary.
Coordinate requests for memorial plaques / benches / trees, working with the Amenities Manager to fulfil these.
Meet with prospective hirers to discuss requirements and give tours of Council premises, where required.
Communications & Marketing:
Assist with the running of the council’s social media accounts, including designing and scheduling posts.
Monitor and collate a record of press coverage relating to the council
