This exciting opportunity offers the chance to be trained in all aspects of painting and decorating. You will be working in varied environments, trained to work at height and in all weather conditions. We work at a variety of different sites including hotels, schools, football stadia, cricket grounds and shopping centres. There will be times when you’ll be working away from home, or visiting our Training Academy in Doncaster. This is an excellent opportunity with lots of reward for the right person.
You will attend college for the duration of your apprenticeship, this could be one week a month or one day a week. Alongside this will be gaining practical experience on-site. You will also attend our Doncaster training academy for 2 weeks in Year 1 and then 1 week in Year 2 & 3.
As you progress through your course you will be given more responsibility. Many of our apprentices go on to be supervisors and Contracts Managers. If you are successful in the role, we will encourage you to progress further within our business.Training:1 Day per week at college or in weekly blocks aligned with the college timetable.Training Outcome:Following completion of the apprenticeship course, (and potentially a Level 3) plus sufficient time to apply experience on-site, thecandidates will be classd as a fully qualified painter and decorator. A genuine interest in developing skills within the trade is important. In return, full work‑based training will be provided in areas such as wallpaper hanging, specialist paint finishes, and traditional techniques that are now less common, including painting sash windows
The role includes preparing work areas safely, using dust sheets and protecting furniture and surrounding surfaces. Responsibilities also involve identifying and resolving common issues with surface coatings and wall coverings, as well as preparing and stripping surfaces using a range of methods, including abrasives, chemical treatments, power sanding, and heat or liquid techniques
Good time management and organisational skills are required to ensure high‑quality work is delivered within agreed timescales
Training:Successful candidates will work towards industry training standards, including SVQ/NVQ Painter and Decorator Level 2 qualification. Your training will be enhanced through the provision of additional in-company training and support from a student mentor and team.
College attendance will be block release 1 in 5/6 weeks.
You will receive a basic tool kit and all workwear and PPE kit will be provided. Training Outcome:A full-time and permanent position will be discussed on the successful completion of the apprenticeship.
