IT Security Operations Engineer - London
Inside IR35 - 3 month initial term
Experienced SecOps Engineer sought by a well-known, public-facing organisation with numerous sites spread across the county. The business is involved in significant, complex and critical logistical operations, providing services to hundreds-of-thousands.
As a public-facing, Critical National Infrastructure business the SecOps Engineer will be a crucial component in ensuring the effective management of both the technical cyber security environment and wider information security management piece for the business.
This role carries responsibility for ensuring collaboration between Information Security and the IT Ops team, you’ll ensure the implementation of technical security controls supporting risk mitigation and contributing to the continual improvement of the business’s security composure.
Responsibilities:
• Provide expertise on application, network and infrastructure security
• Monitor security solutions including SIEM (Rapid 7), threat detection and data security, endpoint protection, network analytics for alerts
• Provide documentation for technical standards to meet corporate security policies/industry best practice
• Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture and apply appropriate remediation
• Ensure appropriate technical measures are in place to comply with regulations/legislations
• Conduct vulnerability scanning, analysis and remediation
• Patch management
• Identify root cause of security issues and design appropriate solutions
Required Experience:
• Prior experience working within the security industry, ideally within a complex / multisite environment
• Excellent analytical skills
• Experience of working with SIEM tools, ideally Rapid 7
• Exposure to email security tools (Sophos, O365 etc)
• Excellent patch management skills (Intune SCCM, MECM Endpoint Manager and WSUS)
• Experience with vulnerability scanning and management (Insight VM)
• Experience with Endpoint Security (Sophos)
• Exposure to Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure etc.)
• Excellent networking skills (TCP/IP, SMB, DNS, DHCP etc)
• Hold industry recognised certifications/degree (S+, ITIL etc.)
Location; Central London with occasional travel a requirement
Rate; £550 - £650 p/d DoE, inside IR35

Develop an understanding of the security architecture across all IT infrastructure, networks, systems and applications – both in projects and ad-hoc
Understand the importance of Information Security and applies this to their own work and operations within the organisation
Communicate security risks and issues to business managers and others and then applies and maintains specific security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments
Support incident/ issue and vulnerability management. Support the investigation of minor security breaches in accordance with established procedures
Assist users in defining their access rights and privileges. Perform non-standard security administration tasks and resolves security administration issues
Provide advice and guidance to business stakeholders on security best practice and application of Security policies and processes in order to ensure compliance and/or risk management facilitating delivery of business objectives in line with contractual obligations and corporate standards
Gather data, analyse and prepare reports or presentations to feed information back to teams/managers

On our Sheet Metal Worker Apprenticeship, you'll be trained in the fabrication and installation of various components that are used to outfit our products.
The role of Sheet Metal Worker includes working from planned drawings to fabricate and install components to outfit a vessel in areas ranging from the Engine Room to Kitchen Galley. As a Sheet Metal worker you will be using various types of hand tools such as: jigsaws, dividers, scribers etc., and will also be trained to use various large pieces of machinery ranging from a manual folding machine to the latest hi-tech computer aided machine laser.

The role of a Quality Technician Apprentice involves working from customer and engineering drawings, data and documentation to carry out the inspection, testing, validation, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis of issues experienced in manufacturing processes. This can range from both existing legacy and new product introduction within a highly complex manufacturing site.
Specific activities could include:
Inspection and validation of product and shop floor records
Monitor and analyse reject, rework and Right First Time (RFT) data

There are a variety of machines that are used to manufacture the components, ranging from manually operated machines such as lathes and milling machines to full CNC machines such as the Tornado (CNC lathe) and the Storm (CNC mill). Many skills can be gained including turning, threading, milling, tapping and boring as well as having the chance to be able to operate a CNC machine.You will be required to measure and check the components being produced and make adjustments to the equipment/programme to ensure components meet the required specification. You will pay specific attention to tolerances which range from 0.5mm to as little as 0.02mm as you use many different measuring devices such as: micrometres, vernier callipers, slip gauges and screw thread gauges to measure the components and ensure the accuracy of the work produced.Training:An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. The role of the driller involves a variety of different activities. You’ll be working in workshops and on board submarines drilling holes using various types of drilling equipment, ranging from a small compressed air pistol drill to large scale industrial drills. Larger holes are bored using specialist boring bars and machinery, up to the sizes of 140mm.Specialist training is provided to allow you to work on nuclear reactor bulkhead work, using state of the art equipment costing up to £100,000 designed especially for this type of work.
Drillers will also be trained in machine engineering facing, working to high tolerances to produce near-perfect flat surfaces, stud welding, hole tapping up to 56mm.
