As a Junior Maintenance Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that all site lubrication activities are carried out effectively to support plant reliability and prevent equipment failure. The role involves following and maintaining lubrication schedules, monitoring oil and grease systems, and working closely with the Reliability Engineer to drive preventative maintenance.
Your role will include:
- Being the owner of the lubrication schedule and being required to work to it as closely as is practical to do so, providing feedback for updates and support and recommending any modifications to it as necessary
- To identify and minimise any oil losses, keeping accurate records of what oils are topped up and where
- As well as the lubrications, it is important to ensure clean lubrication systems, including pump sets, pipework, and tanks, to control contamination and aid quick identification of leaks or problems
- Undertake risk assessments (RA) and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) assessments for engineering work undertaken, and where there is a perceived risk to engineering personnel
- The role requires the competence to lead a team of contractors on planned shutdown days to assist with the completion of the schedules
- To ensure that all automated systems for oil and grease remain topped up with the appropriate lubricant
- To use SAP and other provided reporting tools to report defects, lubrication schedule progress, stock inventory checks and oil consumption records
- Ensure appropriate labelling and documentation control of lubricants used on site. This
includes labelling of tanks, drums, transport containers and relevant COSHH data
The Ideal Candidate:
- Engineering experience is desirable but not essential (training/development offered)
- An understanding of why preventative maintenance and condition-based monitoring are important
- Good communication skills

Working within the Production Engineering and Lean Team, you will ensure successful identification and implementation of best manufacturing practise. You will help review the suitability for manufacture of new products and maintain quality that exceeds customer expectation.
Duties include:
Identify and present ideas for improving production in order to improve profitability, quality, throughput and H&S.
Conduct feasibility studies on continuous improvement ideas generated from within Production, gained sign off and implement those projects.
Work closely with the Lean team to develop and implement best practices, routines and solutions to improve production rates, quality and output.
Support the Production Team in evaluating the strategic development of on-site manufacturing to achieve business goals.
Assist in the production of operating instructions.
Assist in the coordination and management of new products internally and externally to support the manufacturing team where required.
Produce written reports where required.
You will undertake continuous training and development.
Ensure adherence in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
Participate in new product reviews to ensure that only the most production efficient designs are released into production.
Participate in Change Request reviews to ensure that the best and most cost-efficient solutions are adopted without having a negative impact on safety or quality standards.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
Work as part of the production engineering team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements.
Stay current and up to date on any technology changes that may affect manufacturing and advise of any impact.
Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers, and other service providers as and when required.

Experience of quality management including proven use of DFMEA & PFMEA.
Project management experience and a track record of identifying and successfully implementing change.
Previous involvement in new product introductions would be beneficial.
Experience of Value Analysis and Value Engineering techniques, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping and 8D would be beneficial but is NOT a prerequisite.

In this Field Service Engineer Apprenticeship role, you will join our field-based engineering team of approximately 200 engineers and be ultimately responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining our medical systems. You will provide vital technical service support to our customers and work at hospital sites throughout the UK, initially focusing on customer sites within the London and South England area.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Develop an understanding of relevant industry health and safety standards, regulations, and environmental and regulatory requirements
Maintenance and operational practices, processes and procedures cover a range of plant and equipment
Locate, and rectify faults in plant and equipment
Communicate with and provide information to stakeholders in line with personal roles and responsibilities
Read, understand and interpret information and work in compliance with technical specifications and supporting documentation
Inspect and maintain appropriate plant and equipment to meet operational requirements
Assess and test the performance and condition of plant and equipment
Communicate, handover and confirm that the appropriate engineering process has been completed to specification
Position, assemble, install and dismantle electrical plant and equipment, which may include motors, switchgear, cables and conductors, to agreed specifications
Diagnose and determine the cause of faults in electrical plant and equipment
Replace, repair or remove components in the electrical plant and equipment and ensure its return to operational condition
You can also expect the following:
Travel to sites across the South of England
Attend other Siemens manufacturing sites across the country on temporary short-term assignments
Visit the Siemens Healthineers Customer Care Centre in Camberley, Surrey
Travel abroad to the Siemens Training Centres in Germany and the US as required
Training:
Practical Skills Training to be delivered at Basingstoke College of Technology
BTEC Level 3 Diploma to be studied at College on a day-release basis over the first 2 years of the programme - if level 3 not already achieved
If Level 3 already achieved, will work towards achieving Engineering HNC
Portfolio of competence-based evidence to meet the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours criteria as outlined in the Standard
End Point Assessment
Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
