The Role Join our dynamic engineering team as a Machine Shop Technician, reporting to the Machine-shop Supervisor and working closely with Production Planning and Purchasing. You will be responsible for creating programs for CNC machines using 3D CAD models and technical drawings, setting up and operating CNC equipment, and ensuring quality components are produced on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan the most efficient machining operations for each job.
- Create, set up, and run CNC machine programs based on 2D drawings and 3D CAD data.
- Ensure work consistently meets high-quality and technical standards.
- Complete preventative maintenance and maintain equipment.
- Fully back up all CNC programs for repeat orders.
- Communicate effectively with the Engineering team to capture any design changes during manufacture.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and health & safety regulations at all times.
- Maintain accurate work documentation in line with BS EN9001.
- Assist in keeping the office and workshop organised and tidy.
- Respond to phone and email queries courteously as needed.
Skills & Experience Essential:
- Recognised engineering qualification with a minimum of 3 years hands-on CNC milling experience.
- Ability to work to high tolerances in a fast-paced environment.
- Competent with 2D CAD drawings (3D CAD/CAM experience desirabletraining can be provided).
- Confident in self-inspection and quality assessment.
- Flexible, conscientious, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with manual lathes and mills.
- Understanding of CAD/CAM programming.
- Familiarity with Heidenhain and Mazatrol controls

Production workers clean equipment and tanks pre-rinse, wipe, scrub, and final rinse surfaces using wash solvent, brushes and rags. Dirty solvent is transferred to the satellite accumulation area. 3. Transfer used wash solvent to the satellite accumulation drum or tank. 4. Ensure hazardous waste storage or accumulation containers remain sealed except during the addition or removal of waste. 5. Ensure Hazardous Waste storage containers are clearly labeled "Hazardous Waste." 6. Care must be exercised when introducing waste into the satellite accumulation drum. Do not drop on floor or area. In the case of any spilled material, spills or drops shall be cleaned up immediately. 7. When 55 gallons has accumulated, the satellite accumulation container must be moved to a permanent hazardous waste storage area within 3 days and relabeled "Hazardous Waste."
