Under the guidance of qualified mentors, you will assist with a wide variety of maintenance and refurbishment duties. As your skills progress, your responsibilities will include:
Decorating: Preparing surfaces, painting, glossing, and assisting with high-quality interior and exterior finishes.
Carpentry: Assisting with first and second-fix carpentry, including repairing doors, fitting skirting boards, and maintaining wooden fixtures.
Plumbing: Learning to identify leaks, clear blockages, and assist with the installation and maintenance of basic plumbing systems and fixtures.
Building & Tiling: Gaining hands-on experience in minor brickwork, plaster patching, and wall/floor tiling (including grouting and sealing).
Stepping into Leadership: As you progress through your training, you will be encouraged to take the lead on smaller tasks, manage your own tool kit, order materials, and confidently problem-solve on-site.
Health & Safety: Keeping work areas clean, tidy, and safe, and strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.

Upon commencement, you will join one of our experienced Site Engineers, shadowing them to gain an understanding of their role and responsibilities before being tasked with completing your own activities. Modern heavy goods vehicles are packed with advanced technology, diagnostics, and engineering systems. As an HGV Technician, you’ll play a vital role in keeping fleets operating safely and efficiently while developing specialist skills that are in high demand across the industry.

From day one, you’ll become part of our Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) team, working alongside experienced technicians and gaining real hands-on experience on a wide range of heavy goods vehicles and trailers.
Over the course of the programme, you’ll learn how to:
Carry out vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs
Diagnose faults using the latest diagnostic technology
Maintain braking, axle, and electrical systems
Work safely and professionally in a workshop environment
Support the maintenance of alternatively fueled vehicles and emerging technologies
Training:
Every 4 - 6 weeks, you’ll attend specialist training blocks at a dedicated training centre in Nottingham, where you’ll continue developing your technical knowledge and practical skills while working towards your Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
You won’t be doing it alone. Throughout the programme, you’ll receive ongoing support from experienced mentors, trainers, and a dedicated development coach who will help you build confidence, track your progress, and support your career development every step of the way
