Working in the Manufacturing Team
Primarily located in the TTP workshop, making and modifying parts for product development projects
Collaborating with various colleagues across the business on projects and participating in design reviews
Carrying out other tasks within the Manufacturing Team, such as prototype assembly and debugging.
Training on safe operation of machinery
Training on specific CNC and manual machine tools
Training in hand-tool use, especially around precision modification of components
Training in understanding of fundamental mechanical design principles with a hands-on perspective. For example, fitting techniques, clearances, gear PCDs, bearings etc.
Training in production line set-up and manufacturing techniques
Training in fault-finding and system debugging.
Training:
The apprenticeship will be day release to college two days in the first year and working at TTP the other three days with a mentor . Then the next three years will be a day release to Cambridge Regional College and four days in the work place with a mentor.
Training Outcome:Potential opportunity to be offered a full-time role as a Machinist. The machinist technician would become a valuable member of the Manufacturing team, continuing to develop skills in mechanical machining, fabrication, prototype and production assembly, test and debug. Mechatronics Maintenance Technician:
Year 1-3: 1 days at college 4 day on site in the factory.
Year 4: 5 days on site in factory working on final assessments end point.
Year 5: On site on Shift.
Site work: Working closely with the Engineering team under the supervision of a mentor (Reliability Engineer). Tasks including but not limited to:
• Planned maintenance.
• Breakdowns.
• Overhauls.
• Projects.
• Machine setting.Training:The successful candidate will attend the College of West Anglia, Wisbech campus. Year 1 to 3 will be day release to college with typical total duration of 42 months.
