Job Family Key Accountabilities: Client / Customer Service Develop and communicate standards of EHS&S code of conduct, ensure mutual understanding, and mitigate exposure to hazardous / undesirable conditions in our business operations and product uses. Enterprise Operations Support Leads the development and implementation of comprehensive regulatory compliance programs in the areas of occupational health and safety, hazardous materials management, environmental management, transportation materials safety, security, and product compliance. Interprets regulations, develops legislatively compliant, organizationally appropriate standards for Tremco North American businesses. You will maintain regular communication with the onboard team and, when necessary, with clients. You will also work in partnership with the MAI Client Deliverables Team based in Aberdeen, who will provide continuous support throughout the project lifecycle. Promote teamwork at the worksite among all associated parties and ensure good communication lines, especially during shift handovers. Ensure awareness, understanding and control of all computer operating systems relating to the content of the project or contract. Ensure inspection equipment calibration procedures are followed and/or undertaken by third parties. JOB DESCRIPTION New Weekend Shift: Friday - Sunday 6:00AM - 6:30PM Rust-Oleum Corporation is a worldwide leader in protective paints and coatings for both home and industry. Weekend Shift Differential: $3.00/hour Schedule: Friday-Sunday, 6:00AM - 6:30PM The primary result expected from the Lab Technician will be to complete and document performance testing of various coating attributes by making laboratory samples of paint technologies including color evaluations and color matching as well as other laboratory functions and by assisting in the development and optimization of new or existing products to support revenue growth and profits of the corporation. Typical tasks for this position include (but are not limited to) the following: Monitor product quality to ensure compliance to standards and specifications. Develop an understanding with supervision of the fundamentals of coatings technology. Compile results of tests and analyses. Set up and conduct experiments, tests, and analyses using standard paint test procedures and physical and chemical techniques. Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses of solids, liquids, and gaseous materials, and document all experimental results. Provide and maintain a safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams, and by conducting laboratory and plant safety audits. Prepare paint batches for products and following standardized formulas, or create experimental formulas. Preform lab support activities which may include routine maintenance or upkeep of equipment and lab areas such as salt fogs, QUV'S, milling room, hot room, or controlled temp. & humidity cabinet. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION DUTIES/TASKS: Satellite Hazardous Waste Accumulation Production tank/Cleaning/filling 1. Production Quality Lab Technicians may have to dispose of product samples, line flush, off-spec product, or expired product retain samples. This waste material is transferred to the hazardous waste satellite accumulation drum. 2. Production workers clean equipment and tanks pre-rinse, wipe, scrub, and final rinse surfaces using wash solvent, brushes and rags. Dirty solvent is transferred to the satellite accumulation area. 3. Transfer used wash solvent to the satellite accumulation drum or tank. 4. Ensure hazardous waste storage or accumulation containers remain sealed except during the addition or removal of waste. 5. Ensure Hazardous Waste storage containers are clearly labeled "Hazardous Waste." 6. Care must be exercised when introducing waste into the satellite accumulation drum. Do not drop on floor or area. In the case of any spilled material, spills or drops shall be cleaned up immediately. 7. When 55 gallons has accumulated, the satellite accumulation container must be moved to a permanent hazardous waste storage area within 3 days and relabeled "Hazardous Waste." Knowledge and understanding of the chemical characteristics of the wastes which they are assigned to handle or control (i.e., flammability, toxics, incompatibilities, etc.). 2. Type of protective equipment and clothing to be worn. 3. Knowledge of what to do or who to notify in the event of a release, fire, or explosion. 4. Knowledge of communication and alarm system. 5. Know procedures for using facility emergency equipment. 6. Predetermined responses and methods to control releases, fires, or explosions. 7. Ability to shut down operations. This individual will be the voice of the user and owns the collection and synthesis of market and end-user intelligence. The person in this key leadership role will be accountable for collaborating with Product Management and other areas of the business to assess and address information needs, and for leading, analyzing, and synthesizing company, consumer, and marketplace learning. The work of the User & Market Insights and Category Management function will directly influence business strategy, product and value proposition design, pricing, media investments, in-store assortment, go to market strategy, among other strategic elements. RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall - Investigate opportunities that drive business results by uncovering market, brand, channel, and end-user trends working with internal and external teams / agencies. Work closely with Product Management, Sales, R&D, and other cross-functional teams that impact the user experience journey to create a research plan that identifies and addresses key knowledge gaps in end-users and markets. Market Insights - Responsible for overall market insights and intelligence activities to inform the corporate and marketing strategy, planning, and portfolio decisions. This is done through the compilation of internal and external data sources, both ongoing and adhoc, then interpreting these and their potential impact on strategy and planned tactics. User Insights - Own qualitative and quantitative user research at Rust-Oleum, including User Segmentation, Brand Positioning, Macro Trends, etc. The research conducted will provide a clear understanding of end-user needs, wants, problems, likes and dislikes with respect to target home improvement and professional applications, as well as educate the team on research best practices.
