Under general supervision, the Quality Technician I is responsible for inspection of purchased and manufactured hardware, maintenance of equipment calibration system, generation of Quality metrics and management of discrepant materials dispositioned through the Material Review Board.

Performs receiving inspection (when required) of incoming hardware on a random basis using AQL sampling plans. Performs random inspection of finished goods for compliance to specification, reports findings to Quality and Manufacturing managers. Assists in performing manufacturing process audits and report findings to the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing managers. Helps conduct trend analysis and other studies as appropriate to assist Quality Engineering in evaluating potential corrective action of quality issues. Facilitates the Legend Brands equipment calibration system including identification and tracking of all calibrated equipment, maintenance of the calibration data base, and coordination with the company's calibration services provider. Works with other Quality personnel to produce periodic reports on first pass yield/cost of quality, inspection results, MRB dispositions and other quality metrics as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Hiring Range:

Training:You will study on a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship. On completion of this, you will gain a qualification in Engineering at Level 3 standard.
During the first year of the apprenticeship, your learning will take place at the University of Sheffield’s AMRC Training Centre based at Catcliffe, Rotherham, for an initial block of study on a full-time basis. You’ll be assigned a mentor, who will oversee your development and training, offering valuable insights into career paths at Perenco.
Some of your activities on-site might look like the below:
Plan and execute scheduled preventive and breakdown maintenance activities to minimise impact on production, and maximise plant availability on the following:
o Variable speed controllers; LV/HV motors; LV/HV protection; LV/HV distribution systems
o UPS systems; lighting & small power; domestic systems; trace heating & cathodic protection
o Perform LV & HV Electrical Isolations and lock-offs.
Carry out all activities to company standards and procedures
Raise relevant permits within the agreed time period
Report relevant permits with the agreed time period
Develop and review operational and maintenance procedures
Provide input and assistance for new projects including commissioning work
Training:Our Apprentices will undertake a Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician, Level 3 (A level). This will include a full-time period of practical workshop based ‘off-the-job’ training at SETA in Southampton.
You will also begin a technical certificate (depending on your prior attainments) where you will be required to attend SETA one day a week over two academic years. Key activities of this role will include the following:
Pressure testing of ceramic barrels- understand expected pressure, record results
Tensile testing- crush testing and pull testing of ceramic barrels, fuse assemblies and general sub-assemblies
Thermal shock- heating of ceramic barrels and controlled placement into cold water and dye penetration testing to review microscopic cracks in ceramic
Set up, assembly and operation of electrical tests to validate the operation of a fuse. Each of the above tests require a formal report to be written in MS Word that can be circulated to internal and external stakeholders
Understand and utilise various pieces of electrical/ electronic equipment including volt meters, current meters, current sensors, thermocouples and electronic thermometers
Understanding technical standards
Reading and understanding technical drawings generated with AutoCAD
Cleaning, preventive maintenance and assistance with repair of all test equipment
Use of MS Excel to record data and control of documents such as calibration

This is a full-time role based in our Ponteland site
There will be a requirement to travel to TDR in Longbenton to study the BTec day release and practical training
This role reports to the R&D Manager and will work closely with R&D Engineers including Materials, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers
The role will be to assist the R&D team to implement product roadmap strategies and technical support for internal teams in UK and India
Training Outcome:
Upon successful completion of this Level 3 apprenticeship the candidate will be a time served test technician

Robotic Technicians, Mechatronics / Technical Support:
Install, maintain, and repair mechatronic systems including automated machinery, robots, conveyors, and other industrial equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of machines
Perform preventative maintenance to ensure all systems are operational and running at peak efficiency. Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics to guide installation and repairs
Assist in the assembly and fitting of components and systems for new projects or machine upgrades

Year 2 would include 1 day per week to complete EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Development Knowledge
Years 2,3&4 will be based in company developing skills in preparation for the end point assessment to gain your Engineering and manufacturing support technician Level 3 qualification
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment
Additional training for functional skills in English and maths will be undertaken if needed
There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in the spring of each year offered to all apprentices on programme
