A well-established R&D organisation and market leader is looking to rapidly expand its engineering team and is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to provide technical leadership within its development team near Leicestershire.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will take technical ownership of complex embedded software and DSP development activities, supporting the design and implementation of advanced communications systems. The successful candidate will bring strong embedded/bare-metal software experience, a deep understanding of digital signal processing, and proven capability in implementing communication signal processing algorithms such as DDCs, filters and FFTs.
Skills/Experience required for the Principal Software Engineer job based near Leicestershire include:
BEng/BSc or MSc/MEng within Engineering, ideally Electronics, Telecommunications, Software Engineering or a similar discipline
Significant experience in DSP algorithm simulation, embedded software development and 5G communications systems
Strong expertise in bare-metal and embedded C development, with the ability to guide architecture and implementation decisions
Experience developing and debugging software in Linux-based environments
Proven ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers and influence software design across the full development lifecycle
Experience of the following would be advantageous for the Principal Software Engineer job based near Leicestershire:
Experience with Yocto-based Board Support Packages
Cross compilers, including ARM GCC or similar toolchains
FreeRTOS experience
Experience with typical embedded control peripherals, such as RAM, Flash, UART, PWM, A/D, CAN, I2C and SPI
Cortex M3/M4 Microcontrollers or similar.
Experience with the efficient implementation of communications DSP algorithms, such as FFTs, filtering and DDC, including exposure to VHDL

Understand classification rules, welding procedures, material certification, reading and understanding technical drawings, weld symbols, establishing datums, material types and applicable sizes and dimensions
Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, establish correct consumables, utilising best equipment/machinery and workspace. Best methods of fabrication whilst asking support trades to carry out functions to support build methods
Provides information to buyers for the materials and consumables required to undertake tasks
Set up jigs, locate and mark bending/cutting lines onto part material pieces. Able to dimensional control take readings prior to building of a structure and continue to monitor structural movement and alignment throughout build process
Checks operability of equipment, setting guards and check for testing certs/tags on electrical equipment, cleaning out and removing redundant materials from machinery. Sets up and operates fabricating machines guillotine, flanger, press brake, roller, profile machine, overhead cranes, portable equipment welding machines, MMA, MIG, TIG Miggy tracks, magnetic welding tracks, sub merged arc welding. Oxy/Propane/Acetylene flame cutters, setting up gauges, hose flash back arrestors, drilling machines, pipe cutters
Operating hand tools - hammers, chisels, grinders, theodolites, spirit levels, rules, measuring tapes, scribers, punches and centre dabs, hacksaws, files, clamps - sash, G clamp and fairing aids whilst using straps and slings for securing or lifting

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Maintenance Technician supports and ensures the completion of day-to-day maintenance activities at the plant. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Two additional years of experience in lieu of formal education is acceptable.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
1-2 years of Maintenance experience within a manufacturing or similar environment preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Forklift License preferred. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Experience in 480-volt 3-phase electricity required (Preferred in some locations).
Capable of installing, programming, and troubleshooting PLC; AC/DC drive motors preferred.
Ability to troubleshoot electric, air systems, and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of lockout/tagout, arc flash requirements, confined space entry, and hot work permit.
Ability to work overtime as needed; ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond urgently to down equipment.
