Title: Technician - Industrial Coatings
Location: St. Louis, MO
Summary:
Join our Research & Development team and play a hands-on role in developing and improving corrosion-resistant coatings, linings, and fireproofing products. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced lab professionals to support day-to-day operations, contribute to product development, and help ensure quality and performance standards are met.
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Completion of at least one year of college-level chemistry coursework or 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
Must pass a Jaeger Eye Test.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to various chemicals, including but not limited to amines, polyamides, isocyanates, epoxies, alkyds, acrylics, and certain inorganic compounds.
Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.
Must be able to pass an annual respirator medical evaluation and pulmonary function test in accordance with OSHA regulations.
Essential Functions:
Operate laboratory instruments and equipment while following established testing procedures.
Maintain accurate, organized laboratory notes and documentation; assist with report writing as needed.
Conduct quality control testing, grade test panels, and collect data for product evaluation and troubleshooting.
Utilize laboratory computer systems for reporting, formula calculations, graphics, and inventory tracking.
Support the preparation and evaluation of lab-scale batches according to prescribed formulas.
Learn and apply coating techniques using spray, roller, and brush methods.
Reference and follow Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for raw materials and finished goods.
Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality procedures, including proper use of PPE and hazardous material handling.
Proactively identify hazards, support injury prevention efforts, and report incidents promptly.
Collaborate positively with team members, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.
Complete required training (including RCRA Hazardous Waste and Contingency Plan) and apply it in daily work.

The Waste Treatment Handler processes waste for Manufacturing Operations. This position provides support to leadership and maintenance staff to drive excellence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates waste pick-ups and waste removal.
Clean and maintain assigned areas to ensure proper functionality and safety.
Document accurate waste activity records.
Assist maintenance and management team as needed with designated projects.
Participate in the continuous improvement process.
Report incidents, near misses, and any non-conformances through the appropriate channels.
Exemplify the expected values of organization including following policies and standard work procedures.
Give input on and coordinate waste supply purchases.
Other projects and tasks as assigned.
Crosstrain on other production functions to provide support as business need dictates.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:
The Maintenance Senior Mechanic supports the Maintenance Supervisor in overseeing the upkeep and repair of production equipment and facility systems. This includes assisting with troubleshooting and resolving equipment breakdowns, as well as performing maintenance work related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other essential building systems. The Senior Mechanic also plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the maintenance department and ensuring work is performed efficiently and safely. This role ensures production runs efficiently by minimizing downtime, maintaining food safety standards, and responding promptly to equipment failures.
KEY DUTIES & MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist with the day-to-day operations and workflow of the maintenance department.
• Evaluate building systems and equipment to identify and prioritize repairs or maintenance needs.
• Support and guide mechanics to ensure tasks are completed properly and on schedule.
• Assist in projects involving upgrades, installations, or improvements to facility systems.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with company safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least five years of maintenance experience required.
Training, Skills, Knowledge and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or trade school training preferred.
5+ years of experience in maintenance within a food manufacturing or similar GMP-regulated facility.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Hands-on experience with food-grade equipment, conveyor systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of sanitary design, food safety standards, and maintenance documentation requirements.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
Proficient in use of tools and equipment for mechanical, electrical, and basic plumbing repairs.
Familiarity with CMMS systems for logging maintenance work.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to traverse property and facility to diagnose building issues and plan repairs or maintenance.
Must be physically able to perform repairs when needed.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders or stairs for extended periods.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
Capable of working in hot, cold, humid, and wet production areas.
Comfortable working around moving machinery and in confined spaces.
Ability to wear required PPE including hair nets, gloves, ear protection, and safety shoes.
Must be able to respond to on-call or emergency maintenance needs, including weekends and off-hours, if required.
