Roles & Responsibilities of the Project Engineer:
Manage the installation and commissioning of company equipment, ensuring alignment with the company’s vision, purpose, and values.
Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols at all times, ensuring site-specific risk assessments and method statements are completed before commencing any on-site operations.
Identify any gaps in training or knowledge required for task completion and inform the Engineering Manager.
Prepare the specifications, scope and estimate for equipment installation, ensuring the availability of necessary materials. Coordinate all site staff to keep them informed of schedules and oversee it through to completion.
Oversee the installation of all company equipment, including all mechanical and electrical aspects (if qualifications permit).
Ensure that the completed installation can be adequately serviced, considering site conditions.
Qualifications required for the Project Engineer:
To excel in the role, the candidate must have experience within a similar installation or commissioning role. They must be able to demonstrate their project management skills and showcase their technical proficiency within the industry. As this is a role with national coverage, they must be able to travel UK wide with overnight stays where necessary. An understanding of industrial laundry equipment and chemical dosing systems would be desirable but is not essential. As a Mechatronics Maintenance Apprentice, you will develop the practical skills and technical knowledge needed to become a multi-skilled maintenance engineer. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands-on experience maintaining, repairing and improving the plant and equipment that keeps their manufacturing operations running safely, efficiently and reliably. Over the course of this four-year apprenticeship, you will combine structured off-the-job training with practical, on-site learning, building expertise in both mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines.
You will be part of the Maintenance Team, working under the guidance and support of a dedicated mentor who will help you develop your skills and confidence throughout the programme. As your experience grows, you will take on increasing responsibility while learning to work safely and professionally in a busy manufacturing environment.
Your day-to-day activities will include supporting planned preventative maintenance to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime, assisting with fault finding, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems on a wide range of manufacturing plant, and helping to maintain pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, motors, drives, sensors and basic control systems. You will also carry out routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments and component replacements under supervision while learning industry best practice.
Safety will be at the heart of everything you do. You will follow safe systems of work, including risk assessments, permit-to-work procedures and lock out/tag out (LOTOTO) processes, while maintaining high housekeeping standards across the site. You will also learn the importance of accurately recording maintenance activities, communicating effectively with the engineering team and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, reliability and operational performance.Training:

Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths if required
