Training:For this apprenticeship you will be enrolled onto the Level 6 Applied Professional Engineering Degree Apprenticeship at Warwick University over a 48 month duration. You will attend lectures on campus for six one week blocks per academic year and will also be given Friday to focus on your studies each week. The Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 is a 3-year scheme that will expose you to different areas of engineering support across three world-class programmes, offering real life engineering experience that facilitates your learning and development.
As a Support Engineer, the role will involve developing & applying your understanding of a range of Supportability Engineering Integrated Product Support (IPS) processes, tools, systems and techniques. Applying these to the review and analysis of supplier data against components, equipment’s and systems, where you can develop support solutions for both in-service & future RN platforms.
During this 3-year Advanced (Level 3) apprenticeship programme, the main duties undertaken will involve, developing Operating and Maintenance procedures for Submarine systems and equipment, managing the Build Configuration Record of the Boat and aiding in the delivery of the Supporting Technical Documentation for systems and equipment fitted to the platform. You will also provide the associated spares required on-board the Submarine which will be carried on operations and held at Base, including the Ashore facilities and Test Equipment, in order to conduct maintenance.

The primary role of a Systems Engineer is to design, develop and test designs and solutions, which can extend from components and equipment to more complete and complex integrated systems. Training:Year 1: The majority of your first year will be working offsite at college. Towards the end of the first year, you will undertake a return to site induction followed by onsite GKN training.
Years 2 & 3: You will undertake Business Familiarisation, which involves working to a rotation plan in Design, Analysis, Materials & Processes, Component/ Assembly Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality. All work carried out within placement areas will be recorded in work packs. These will be reviewed monthly with your GKN Training Advisor. You will return to college/university on day-release to continue studying in the classroom for your degree.
Year 4: You will be assigned to your final placement and will spend the year specialising in this area. You will also finalise your Degree and Level Four Competence Qualification during this time, as well as completion of your End Point Assessment.

Main Duties
Provide technical and user support of existing hardware, software and operating systems in a timely and efficient manner, with support from the EUD engineer and in accordance with the procedures and standards of the department
To ensure users of IT systems & Information adhere to Organisational Policies and procedures, give guidance to users and contribute to these procedures
To advise customers on IT systems
To prioritise tickets logged by the Service Desk team and to resolve incidents and service requests in line with the Service Level Agreements with support from the EUD engineers
Ability to liaise with customers and third-party companies in a professional manner

Research & Development - Aid in the testing of all new hardware configurations of desktop PCs and new printers, before these are put into use by customers. Pre-tests the latest releases of standard desktop software packages.Training:You will experience a blended learning model.
You will gather learning evidence, journals and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio.
At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged.
This programme is delivered via a day release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at our Derby Road campus (NG18). This attendance is required during term time only.Training Outcome:Although this role is offered on an initial 22 month fixed term contract there are many opportunities for qualified IT Technicians within the NHS both locally and nationally.
